It's a Mystery to Me

"I don't know why you'd need a gun in a movie theater," said Bob Stock. [More]
Well if you don't know, why the hell should anyone listen to you?

Also: Don't let the "legitimate news media" use this to scapegoat "Stand Your Ground."

Even IF Florida DID pass a law banning CCW in movie theaters, it would not have helped in this case, because the person in question was a retired LEO, and Federal Law (LEOSA) allows him to carry where the rest of us cannot.

Shorty after the shooting, the retired officer and his wife met in the theater with their son, who is currently a Tampa Police Department officer. Do you think he was carrying? There was an off-duty deputy sheriff from another county in the theater. Do you think he was carrying? We know that convicted felons sometimes carry firearms. More than five percent of adults in Florida have a resident Florida Concealed Weapons or Firearms License, with licenses also issued to out-of-state residents who may be visiting. After the events in a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado and elsewhere, how many other people in that theater were carrying? We do not know because those weapons were not drawn from their holsters.
