I've carried for years and can't understand why some people react the way they do. I was taught, and I teach, stay calm and if need be, walk away if at all possible. Your firearm should be a last resort and then only to protect yourself or others. I also teach that every bullet that leaves that barrel has a lawyer attached to it. I try to tell them, heaven forbid if you have to shoot someone, but even worse is to fire, miss and hit a innocent. Looks like this guy did both with one shot. Shooting his "attacker" and wounding his wife in the process.
Did this guy think that because he was a cop he was special. Over a little popcorn? Jesus wept.
They have released the infrared surveillance video that captures the shooting with some editing to collapse the time line of events. Look closely at the lower right of the screen as the standing Oulsen moves his hand inches from the sitting Reeves face, ostensibly throwing popcorn and possibly a cell phone, from some reports.
What would you do in this situation if you were a man in his seventies? Take the beating that you expect to follow from an enraged, fit man thirty years younger than you?

I would have done what I actually did when there were disruptive people and plenty of extra seats-- I moved.
I saw nothing here warranting deadly force.
I've also known plenty of dudes in their 70s who could kick ass.
