In the Spirit of Bipartisanship

GOP attempts to insert language into the bill to impose tougher controls on Syrian and Iraqi refugees were unsuccessful. [More]
That's for one of two reasons:

  1. They're gutless and stupid, and fear the Opposite Day effect of Obama not signing because he doesn't get everything he wants being blamed on them, including accusations of being unwilling to "compromise" and being responsible for the government shutting down.
  2. They're the flip side of the same coin, and stand to benefit leaving things the way they are.

Let's see, the GOP has a majority in both houses, but they are unable to insert an amendment into a bill?

Yet Hughes was able to insert an incredible stinking pile of feces into the Firearm Owners Protection Act in 1986?
