With Rotors Come Responsibilities

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) today announced a ... registration process for owners of small unmanned aircraft (UAS) weighing more than 0.55 pounds (250 grams) and less than 55 pounds (approx. 25 kilograms) including payloads such as on-board cameras. So what happens if owners don't register? Door-to-door searches by the drone police? Neighborhood SAM emplacements to knock the scofflaws out of the sky? I guess this rule will be as effective as the FCC rule against unlicensed VHF radios, standard equipment in most long distance truck cabs.

Ha! The Kanawha, Iowa town council was way ahead of them. Until some of us asked them what kind of idiots are they? Ridicule IS a powerful weapon! lol!!

Right you are, Anon --The domestic enemies use it all the time:Rule 5: Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It’s hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.

To be fair, LOTS of people have been stupid and dangerous with remote control aircraft of various types now that they are easy to use; it use to take enough skill to operate them that the operators learned responsibility along the way; not any more - now any kind of safety and reasonable use is thrown out the window in the name of doing something "cool".
Fortunately the gun community ISN'T following suit!
