It is way past time and I mean DECADES past time to call the NRA what it is: a gun control organization. It has had its fingerprints on every significant piece of filth known as "gun legislation", over its lifetime. It is wise for gun owners to know who their enemies are, and the NRA has NEVER been their friend.
