Judge Dale A. Drozd ruled in U.S. District Court in Fresno that established law says “there is no constitutional right to be protected by the state against being murdered by criminals or madmen.” [More]Welcome to the party, pal.

If the police won't enforce court orders, what are court orders good for?
The only thing that will stop a murder-suicide is brute force or imprisonment.
A court order that even the cops scoff at won't stop somebody who's willing to die for his actions.
When officers found Paul Motley, they saw injuries on him as well as his wife and determined it was “mutual combat,” so he was not arrested, but his estranged wife received a emergency protective order.
Over the next few weeks, Paul Motley kept harassing his estranged wife. She called police about the harassment, but her estranged husband was not arrested.
David,
“... there is no constitutional right to be protected by the state against being murdered by criminals or madmen.”
I'd like to know if YOU knew the author of that infamous quote is none other than Richard Posner?
A book about him explains it here:

Oh brother I had a conversation in a comments field with someone telling me (after an "only one" was killed) that I had one less "only one" to protect me. I tried my best to educate the poor soul, informing him that the courts had decided long ago that there is no "duty to protect" to be expected from the "only ones". His mind-humbing response "I don't need to go to the courts to be protected by the PD". I started to write to explain how he had the entire concept upside down, sideways AND backwards all at the same time, then I decided my energies were best focused elsewhere.
