Something must be done? [More]
Where have I heard that before?
So you present a menu of neocon surrender options to pick from?
If you "libertarians" at Reason want to do something, how about you stop sabotaging RKBA through your Democrat-enabling "immigration" advocacy?

Nick Gillespie sold out to the DC-NYC cocktail circuit years ago.
Gillespie describes a lot of repressive reactions from other people, but repeatedly says he finds none ot them convincing. The only recommendation I see in the entire article that he actually endorses is this:
“From a macro-policy perspective, then, things are going in the right direction. People have more rights, more guns, and they are safer, too… But there’s a lot of wisdom in Stokes’ dictate to “come up with something.”… Libertarians should… discuss how policies such as the war on drugs intensify and concentrate gun violence in urban communities while also explaining how school, social-service, and law-enforcement authorities routinely shirk their responsibilities to identify and contain true threats (this is perhaps the biggest policy takeaway from Parkland).”
I don’t see any gun restrictions anywhere in there; conversely, I see a lot of conversation there that needs to come to the forefront of the public’s consciousness about the total failure of the progressives’ model of “you don’t need to protect yourselves, that’s what big government’s police are for.”
The only debatable issue I can see here is whether it’s better to “come up with something” or to simply respond with “no, your move.” Many of us do the latter because of our conviction that we have zero chance of breaking the media’s intentional blockade on presenting our side of the debate. Gillespie, possessing a media outlet of his very own, feels more optimistic. I have no confidence he’ll succeed, but I’m willing to see him try because it costs us nothing.
Another round of the Politicians Syllogism for the house, Barkeep!
1. We must do something.
2. This is something.
3. Therefore, we must do this!
