Meanwhile, Over at the Stupid Party...

At a time when the Republicans are struggling to have any relevance, when the Democrats have total control over committees and process and are cutting Republicans out of any chance to represent the people who elected them, when they are steamrolling policies that will send this state further into a downward spiral, when they have announced their plans to make the lives of gun owners a legal hell, the Republican "Leadership" is crucifying one of the most committed, pro-gun members of their party. [More]
Yeah, I'm sure that'll make the "progressives" stop painting them as fascists.

And not to be outdone:
“Republican” Introduces “Bump-Stock” Ban
Cue the "Would you rather have a Democrat?" excuse-making enablers in 3...2...1...

"Would you rather have a Democrat?"

Speaking for myself: As an Oregonian, YES!

Let me explain, and I'll keep it as brief as possible.

Oregon is a microcosm. We're an odd breed. "Democrat" and "Republican" exist as labels, but neither lines up completely with the respective national parties.

As such, pro-gun, pro-civil-rights Democrats exist in Oregon. They are a minority, but they are there. There are even a couple in the Legislature most terms. Even some of the Portland "Democrat Socialists" recognize the value in their shock troops (you know them as "Antifa") having access to serviceable firearms.

Anti-gun, anti-civil-rights Republicans also exist. They are much more common than pro-gun Democrats, and it ensures that any "gun control" bill WILL have "bipartisan support". (The presence of pro-gun Dems means many "gun control" bills will face bipartisan opposition, too, but don't expect to hear that in the news.)

Real, honest conservatives are extremely rare.

With this many anti-rights Republicans, we really don't lose much ground by replacing them with Democrats (what's that you say? the Dems could get a super-majority? oh, wait...). On a whole, the two sides aren't all that different. But when we keep electing anti-rights Republicans, the GOP of Oregon gets the message that big government, anti-rights policies far more popular than they are.

In the short term, with Dem super-majorities, conservative voters are already under attack. At this point, uniquely, we lose nothing by voting out fair-weather "allies". As we're already facing attacks from multiple sides, the last thing we need is a bunch of "friends" that will stab us in the back at the first opportunity. It's time to clean house.
