How is he any different than former Sen. John Kerry (D-MA): "I believe strongly in the Second Amendment. I believe in the right to bear arms as it has been interpreted in our country." Note carefully the second half of the second sentence. Rather than protect an inherent right to keep and bear arms, that wording would leave it open to ban everything but single shot .22 cal. "Gallery guns". The founders were extremely careful to say exactly what they wanted to say, sometimes debating for days the inclusion or deletion of a word or phrase. When they wrote, passed, and ratified the Second Amendment, "shall not be infringed" meant exactly that.
