Ignorance is Not Bliss

Police said a mother is dead after her children found a gun inside her purse and accidentally shot her Monday inside their home in Cornelius. [More]
This was presented as a counterpoint of sorts to my latest AmmoLand article.

Maybe it's me, but 25 and with five kids, along with a quick scan of a Facebook page that appears to be a match, strikes me as a person who made chronic problematic life choices to where it was just a matter of time and odds before catastrophe caught up.

Anyone who thinks I'm saying this just to "blame the victim" is either idiotically or deliberately missing the point. I reject this tragic and utterly avoidable example as a valid rebuttal to responsible firearms ownership. If anything, it reflects on the "commonsense gun safety" subversives who demand avoidance and ignorance.

Responsible firearms ownership begins with responsible fatherhood.

No act of gov't can overcome fatherlessness.

"Investigators believe one of the kids found the gun inside their mom’s purse and somehow the gun went off"

I'm sure it was just biding its time until it could escape that purse and cause some real havoc!
