A law that is not enforced is either a joke or empty political posturing depending on your point of view.

The fact of the matter is that those parts of GCA68 that target criminals, instead the firearms industry and/or gun owners, were not wanted by the bill's author or the Johnson Administration who fought against their inclusion. They were forced into the bill by the NRA (bless their pointed little heads) as the price for the organization once more stepping out of the way in order for yet another infringement to become law.

Not one subsequent administration, (R) or (D), has bothered to put any teeth in those still unwanted parts of the law.

Hence, you're more likely to see Federal prison if your AR15's defective fire control group allows two shots for a single trigger pull than any of the street thugs bent on turning our inner cities into war zones.
