I know plenty of people less experienced and knowledgeable about the Colorado backcountry who would nonetheless be better prepared for the lethal dangers it presents.

In bear country carry a big gun. .44 magnum if you can handle it, .357 if not.
Be alert.
Forget about bear spray. It is like Tabasco sauce for the bear; it makes you taste better.
I notice the comments are people who want to join her as bear chow. Or more likely the want people other than them to join her as bear chow.
