People are who they are and do what they do. When those "attributes" mesh with their chosen field, they often rise to high places.
"The Turtle" is a deal maker with no principles. Among other things it allowed him to be a very successful politician. Doubt that is true? Name one thing that Sen. Mitch McConnell is for other than showing off his ability to make deals.
