Freaky Friday

"(Paris) dropped the gun, and it fell, and it went off to my knowledge. And then when she picked it up, she picked it up by the barrel and it went off. That's all I know ... It was not a suicide. It was just a freak accident." [More]

I also believe her when she says she doesn't know who the gun "belongs" to. If we're talking "legally," she probably doesn't.

UPDATE: This is what happens when children are left ignorant through the "commonsense gun safety" practice of avoidance. I expect it to disappear soon.

What's amazing about Momma's hamfisted lying is not just how obvious it is, but how easily it is disproved.
One commenter adds, "Seen the video. They are playing around with the gun, then she points it at the back of his head with her finger on the trigger, shoots him, freaks out then drops the gun. This looks like an accidental shooting, not a murder. Then immediately knowing that she has killed her cousin, she picks up the gun and shoots herself almost without a beat. It's almost as if she panicked and committed suicide to deal with the accident. Either way it's an entirely bizarre video."
Another reports the gun has a grossly-extended magazine, on the order of 50 rounds.

"It was just a freak accident."

No it wasn't. What it was is a culmination of ignorance, bad life choices, and bad parenting that led to an all too common result.

I'm betting they're not asking themselves how things could have turned out differently if they'd followed a few rules about safe storage of firearms in households with children and/or age appropriate training on safe gun handling.
