Whatever Gets the Job Done

This week, more news came to light about Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s disqualifications from serving on the U.S. Supreme Court. While Judge Brown Jackson was a student at Harvard Law School, her organization hosted a highly controversial, anti-Semitic speaker on campus. As a nominee to serve on the highest court in the land, this, combined with her previous statements calling the justice system “unfair” to sex predators, should immediately disqualify her to uphold our nation’s laws and Constitutional principles. Her nomination is yet another massive vetting failure from the Biden White House. [More]

Maybe this will be enough to persuade gutless Republicans that this will open them up to accusations they fear, and maybe even trouble a few Jewish Democrats enough to say "No."

It's a cinch we can't expect anything as unimportant to them as the Bill of Rights to be persuasive.

Deferred Status

This time they're showing deference to the right people.

I see Bohacek folded. When are Hoosiers going to do something about Brown and Glick?

Silver Lining -- For Now

Prognosis2% chance of being enacted according to Skopos Labs... [More]

I thought I'd already posted on H.R. 127: Sabika Sheikh Firearm Licensing and Registration Act, but now can't find it, and several of you have sent me copies of the bill. I always like to look at GovTrack for their prognosis-- we'll see how that proves out, what with the eye-rolling gun-grabber feeding frenzy forming.

It figures ol' 10-Box Sheila would try for more edicts following yet another "gun-free zone" slaughter, what with the Houston Chronicle using it as an opportunity to imply blame for "the pervasiveness of gun culture in Texas," to imagine the bullying of "a Muslim girl with brown skin" that no one says ever happened (but nonetheless implying xenophobia and racism in a "conservative" community), all the while extolling the virtues of "gun-free," tranquil and tolerant Pakistan.

How Dare They Not Act Black and Brown?

What are we to make of Tarrio — and, more broadly, of Latino voters inspired by Trump? And what are we to make of unmistakably White mob violence that also includes non-White participants? I call this phenomenon multiracial whiteness — the promise that they, too, can lay claim to the politics of aggression, exclusion and domination. [More]

So that's what we're calling a Bill of Rights culture these days...?

Knute, Knute, He's Our Man

If he can't screw us, no one can!
He voted for the initial law banning guns and ammunition for domestic abusers in 2015...Buehler listed several other gun safety regulations he would support. “I’m certainly for common sense gun legislation, such as banning bump stocks, restricting those under 21 from not buying assault weapons and a three-day waiting period on hand gun purchases,” he said. “Those kinds of laws would make a difference, and have in other places, to decrease gun related violence.”
"B+"?  That's even better than the "B" they gave Wayne's "true champion of the Second Amendment" Harry Reid, and we know what happened there!

But wait, as late TV pitchman Billy Mays used to say, there's more!
He added that he differed with the Trump administration on several immigration policies. He said he backed protections for immigrants brought here illegally as children, and opposed the administration’s policy of separating children from parents seeking to cross the border.
Thank goodness this has nothing to do with that "single issue"!

I haven't been this excited about a PVF grade since Chris Koster, Bill Brown and Kirsten Gillibrand!

But don't take my word for it. Take Oregon Firearms Federation's:

Speaking of Stunts

“Stunts like these are just ill-fated attempts to score cheap political points during a major public health crisis. In Bill Stanley's case, he may think these efforts will bolster his run for Governor, but voters will not fondly remember his enthusiasm to put their communities at risk,” said DPVA Press Secretary Carson Brown. [More]
But overwhelmingly-Democrat Californians can just ignore the legal process altogether...?

VADems, eh?

I suppose it's too late to cover my tracks...?

The Coloban?

Brown instead told talk radio he tried to ruin former Republican state Rep. Cole Wist’s life in the 2018 campaign season because he supported a proposed red-flag law. I was very publicly against that bill, but at no point did I want to lose more Republican seats to the Democrats, as we did in Wist’s formerly competitive House District 37. That strategy is what will turn our state blue for good. Even former Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo came out against RMGO and Brown’s method of forcing “politicians to dance to his tune.” [More]
I know plenty of gun owners have major beefs with Dudley and I can't speak to the charges of threats and extortion, but I will challenge the contention that gun owners are better served in the long run by continuing to reward GOP turncoats with power.

And as for using Tancredo as some kind of RKBA benchmark, I wouldn't go there.

What Can Brown Do to You?

H.R.717 - To amend title 18, United States Code, to prohibit a Federal firearms licensee from selling or delivering certain semiautomatic centerfire rifles to a person under 21 years of age, with exceptions for active duty military personnel and full-time law enforcement officers, and for other purposes. [More]
Here were the "Republican" co-sponsors when the same bill was floated in 2018.  We'll have to wait to see who signs on this time since Brown is once more claiming "bipartisan support." "Moderate" Dent is gone (thankGod) but Mast and Fitzpatrick are still in power, leading to the logical question: Why?

Sticking with What Works

GUN CONTROL IDIOT, JERRY BROWN, SIGNS BILL MAKING IT ILLEGAL TO STOP A SCHOOL SHOOTING WITH A GUN [More]
Idiot? I dunno-- I think he knows exactly what he's doing by further ensuring utter reactionary helplessness. A couple more, especially if they're high-profile events, and watch all politicians suddenly "see the light."

Mission accomplished! At least in the headlines.

On the positive side. I'd expect Wayne and Chris probably have pretty good retirement packages.

Different Views

From Hayden Brown, NRA Instructor, Kirbyville, MO:
The NRA Institute for Legislative Action is wrong in their assessment of House Bill 2057.
Tomorrow, the Missouri House Committee on Emerging Issues is scheduled to hear House Bill 2057.  Sponsored by state Representative Mike Bernskoetter (R-59), HB 2057 specifies that no additional fee beyond $100 may be charged to process concealed carry permit applications.
Please do not support HB 2057.  Although it limits the application fee to $100, it adds late fees and penalties when renewing.  As you may be aware, Sheriffs across the state are backlogged with applications and renewals and adding late fees would discourage renewals.  Like poll taxes, increased renewal fees would harm those most in need, and least able to absorb the increase in cost.
House Bill 2057 is wrong for Missouri!
I'm sure the Fairfax Über Alles crowd will be quick to attack this the same way they're attacking GOA over its rejection of the McAwful deal. And for the record, I'm not completely on board with that group's offered rationale.

My concern with the GOA approach is it briefly touches on but doesn't emphasize a more fundamental "due process" issue. We see in the recent Fourth Circuit panel decision the danger of treating 2A as some sort of lesser or inferior right.

Here's what should matter and what should be insisted on:

Has the person been convicted of a crime?  Did he have a jury trial where he was proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt?

That's what matters to me. I consider it more important than asking some usurper for permission to claim what I'm entitled to.

The Enemy Within

Once again Emmett Hanger crosses the aisle, voting with Democrats to defeat Dick Black's Constitutional Carry bill. [More]
Oh No...o...o...o! Not A-rated and endorsed Emmett Hanger!!!

Who does this guy think he is?

Bill Brown...?

Kirsten Gillibrand...?

Judy Baar Topinka...?

The sad/outrageous/inexcusable thing is, I could spend hours doing this.

Not a Choice

At least that's what Richard Martinez intends to leave you if he has his way. [More]

Think of it: California laws aren't strict enough for this guy. He demands more. Everywhere.

Curious, nobody is investigating if A-rated citizen disarmament enforcer Bill Brown's guys gave the killer a pass rather than invoking a 5150 72-hour evaluation when they found out who his dad was... or the psychotherapist, who called the kid's mother instead of 911, in spite of California's duty to warn...

I guess it's easier to call for your and my choices to be curtailed, especially with state monopoly of violence propagandists like Robin Abcarian masquerading as reporters.

Not Enough

Just two days after Oregon Governor Kate Brown (D) signed expanded background checks into law via Senate Bill 941, Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly are pressing Democrats in Oregon’s legislators to go even further–to pass more gun control while they have the chance. [More]
It's never enough.

Which is why anyone who talks of "compromise" with serial deceivers who lust after your rights is a fool.

There are no "deals." Anything the antis find expendable -- for now -- in order to pick up a piece they value more, they'll go back and recapture later. And they'll call anyone who resists an extremist, and unwilling to compromise.

Proof the System Works!

Today, unelected Democrat Governor Kate Brown, who replaced disgraced Democrat Governor John Kitzhaber, ignored the will of the people, the counties, and the sheriffs and signed into law SB 941, the universal gun owner registration bill. [More]
So give her what she's asking for.  You know, massive noncompliance.

And the Winner IS...

Not gun owners, that's for sure.

Remember the other day, when I talked about a guy endorsed by both Bloomberg AND NRA being pressured by Gabby?

Guess which side he chose.  And who he kissed off and betrayed.

Rick Snyder joins Bill Brown and Kirsten Gillibrand and a host of others over the years. Some day when I have the time (like that'll happen any time soon) I ought to do a compilation and maybe come up with a GunJudas award.

"Not That Bad On Guns"

That's what one California gun activist told me about Jerry Brown over the weekend in Chicago.

I agree.

He's terrible.  I guess not sticking the knife in your guts all of the time is what makes him "moderate" to some.

He sucks on due process, too.

What happened in California with the demonic Isla Vista nutjob is that formerly A-rated anti-gunner Bill Brown's guys failed to do a thorough job, even though the "legal" tools already existed to determine the little monster had guns and to take him in for observation.

Questions I still want to see answers for: Was any deference given because of who the kid was? Would the son of someone of lesser means have been carted off for 72 hours of evaluation? Are there records of communications that show what the mother and deputies said to each other, and if anyone else, like the family lawyer, got involved?

Meanwhile, as is typical and not unexpected, everyone who didn't "do it" is being punished.

Me, I want to see what someone victimized by these new powers has to do to get his guns back, and if those options are dependent on access to a personal fortune.  I want to see if mental health professionals have a mechanism whereby they can proclaim someone so disabled of now being "safe," and not fear that will leave them personally and professionally liable if they're wrong.  I want to see if "family" members who may have other motives, including revenge and greed, are slapped down hard for abusing this.
