North Carolina declared 'gun free zone' in anticipation of Hurricane Earl

Government, of course, as usual, has things exactly Bizarro-World backwards. It's when the security of a free state is imperiled that the right of the people to keep and bear arms is most necessary. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column looks at an immediate choice confronting gun owners where they can see for themselves how serious they are about personally claiming their rights.

This Day in History: September 2

That General Washington be directed forthwith to apply to General Clinton for passports to convey provisions from Pennsylvania, or the States southward thereof to Boston, or such other ports eastward of New York, as General Washington shall judge expedient, sufficient to supply the Troops of the Convention of Saratoga, and such prisoners of the British Army as are subsisted by the United States, on the east side of Hudson's River; and in Case of a Refusal or Delay to grant such passports, that General Washington forthwith order such Troops and prisoners to the States of Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia, for the conveniency of subsisting them, informing General Clinton of the purpose of this Resolve. "My Demands"

This looks like the website of the nutjob in MD. I had to grab it off Google cache because the regular url is timing out.

Hmmm--an anti-human environmentalcase.

Why doesn't that surprise me?

I guess none of the hostages had "a 'good and substantial reason' to carry a handgun, including a finding that the permit is 'necessary as a reasonable precaution against apprehended danger.'”

Why doesn't the fact that he chose unarmed victims surprise me either?

UPDATE: Looks like it took another man with a gun to resolve things. That's non-surprise #3.

California gun bills fail

"It was a fight down to midnight, but in the late hours of August 31, AB 1810, AB 1934, and AB 2358 were DEFEATED!" [More]
Happy news warranted a second Gun Rights Examiner column today.

Dead

All three Democrat sponsored anti gun rights bills are dead....As of midnight August 31st, all non-urgency, non-budget bills which were not passed by both houses died. [More]
I'll need to find out more, but this is a pretty good write-up and it looks like some of the Republicans were real champs.

"Start with Trust"

And it appears these folks can't be. [Read]

No wonder they don't trust us.

I seem to remember discussing this before some months back, but I can't find it now--maybe I just saw it on someone else's blog...

We're the Only Ones "Not My Job" Enough

"My wife screamed at him, 'Help! My daughter needs CPR,'" Michael said.

He said the uniformed man "smirked" and replied, "I don't do CPR." [More]

Huh? What? No, the "mystery man" doesn't work here. That couldn't have been one of our cars.

Hey, Sarge, can I have a work order form? Yeah, my dash cam went on the fritz yesterday...

We're the Only Ones Licentious Enough

Three people, including a Department of Public Safety trooper, were arrested Tuesday, accused of selling fraudulent drivers' licenses to illegal immigrants from March through August. [More]
You know what else we need?

Gun licensing!

It could be a gold mine!

We're the Only Ones "Have You Seen Me?" Enough

Police officials said Shea had financial difficulties and had access to a department-issued firearm, and they were worried about his well-being.

“We’re concerned about his state of mind,’’ Harrington said. “We don’t know why he’s missing and still hasn’t shown up.’’ [More]
There's your case for citizen disarmament right there. Imagine how much more worrisome one of us non-"Only Ones" experiencing financial difficulties might be.

Thank goodness the Brookline Police have the power to prevent this from happening, and to make sure that officer safety will prevail in any encounter Shea might have with "law-abiding citizens."

Will only criminals oppose proposed Portland gun edicts?

"All five are aimed at curbing illegal gun use. And there's no reason why anyone in Oregon, except criminals, should be opposed to doing that."

Well, sure there are. Lots of them. And good ones. [More]

Today's Gun Rights Examiner column concludes that all depends on the meaning of the word "criminal."

This Day in History: September 1

Under date of September 1, 1778, Articles 11 and 12 were formally suppressed pursuant to the declarations given below. The original French declaration, which is in French only, and a copy of the American declaration (which is said to be in part in the handwriting of Franklin) are in the Department of State file; but the copy is neither correct nor complete. There is now also in the file a facsimile of the original American declaration, obtained from the French archives; and from this, which is in both languages, the text here is printed. [More]

I don't get it--this happened in Illinois?

Why the hell didn't his victims just:
1. Vomit
2. Surrender
3. Scream (while poking with "a rat tail comb") or
4. Pull the covers over their heads?

With all these options, he still got away with it?

When Only Ones Collide

An NYPD cop whose wife called 911 for help against a gang of thugs says he was brutally beaten by baton-wielding fellow officers who stormed his Queens home. [More]
I'm confused--which one was the gang of thugs again?

And how do you figure out which ones get to lift a finger and which don't...?

Why won't NRA give proper credit in McDonald case?

I felt it necessary to go over those credentials to establish that we're not talking about someone with an axe to grind or any agenda other than to advance the right to keep and bear arms. Overall, NRA has had no stronger supporter over the years. For him to characterize NRA's credit-claiming as a "stunt" is no small matter. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column wonders why some continually refuse to give credit where it's due.

Will you help spread the word by sharing this link?

We're the Only Ones "For the Children" Enough

She is charged with firing a gun in her home in January. The shot went through a window toward children who were playing in the front yard. [More]
Two DUI convictions, lying to incriminate with the most foul of accusations...what a classy lady.

No wonder the Sheriff and all the California antis think people like her are the "Only Ones" who should be trusted to go about bearing arms.

A Tale of Two Leaders

No wonder ol' Pooty-Poot thinks he can get away with whatever he damn well feels like on the world stage. I can't tell from the photo if there's a little thumb bell on the Obamacycle.

I wish someone with proper PhotoShop skills would turn this rough draft idea into a finished product:

UPDATE: Mayor Joel Stoner offers this:

We're the Only Ones Cut Back Enough

Cutbacks force police to curtail calls for some crimes [More]
Gee, we're scaling down in my neck of the woods, too.

That's not necessarily a bad development for those of us under no illusions about the police protecting us. For others...

I'd like to think there will be an uptick in freedom, but experience hath shewn they'll likely focus on revenue generation activities at the expense of public safety--plus, the public employee union mentality means they'll have even crappier attitudes.

NAACP armed defense endorsement is inconsistent with group's anti-gun stance

The thing is, in spite of all the hostile noise, I'm just not seeing why this is a race issue. Why does it matter what color either man was?

And the other thing is, it's interesting how the NAACP comes out in favor of armed defense when there is a race issue to exploit. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column looks at a situation that is not black and white, no matter how much some would like us to believe that it is.

Rigid Resistance

Mayor Sam Adams' plan for new Portland gun laws could face stiff opposition [More]
Please--don't use that term when talking about Mayor Sam...

And this I like, from poor-minding-her-own-business-being-personally-pilloried-by-gun-bullies Ginny Burdick:
"The fundamental problem we have in Salem is the extremist end of the spectrum in the gun-owning community dominates the debate. They look bigger than they are because they're so loud."
Yeah--the media acts like such an amplifier for us. Fortunately, we don't need to be any bigger than, say, three percent...

Except if you're not an "Only One," you're just not competent enough to be trusted, and to suggest otherwise is extremist.

NRA: No endorsement for Reid AND Angle?

Gun owners and NRA members should demand NRA-PVF take a position in this race--their entire reason for existence is to produce political victory.
