"Broward School District affirms gun policy for toys"

We discussed one such incident the other day. The Sun Sentinel tells us another child has run afoul of the Broward County School Board over a toy gun.

They say their hands are tied because of stat law, but here's the thing:
[T]he district's policy distinguishes between a Class A weapon, including "Firearms — any kind of gun," tear gas and explosives — and Class B weapons, including toys, knives, chains or razor blades. She said the toy gun was a Class B weapon and not a firearm, which state law describes as weapons that "expel a projectile by the action of an explosive."

The penalty for Class A weapons: a one-year expulsion; for Class B: a 10-day suspension.
Well that's very different. And the official reaction?
"The way to avoid all of this is, don't bring what you think is a toy and we think is a projectile."
Why do "officials" get away with such arrogance?

Because they can.

Why are some gun owners afraid of permitless concealed carry?

Gun Owners of America Endorses Vicky Hartzler for Congress

From GOA, via email:

September 21, 2010

Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is proud to endorse Vicky Hartzler for Congress in Missouri's Fourth Congressional District.

Vicky served in the state legislature from 1995-2000, earning an A+ rating for her unwavering support of the Second Amendment. She is just the type of person we need to stand against the anti-gun agenda of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The incumbent representative, Ike Skelton, has shown his true colors in the current session of Congress by repeatedly siding with Pelosi on issues important to gun owners.

Three times in 2009 he voted against amendments to repeal a gun ban in national parks, while at the same time voting to massively expand the amount of federally controlled land.

And in 2010, Skelton voted for a bill that would strangle the First Amendment rights of groups like Gun Owners of America. The so-called DISCLOSE Act would impose a host of new restrictions on groups like GOA, effectively limiting our ability to hold individual congressmen accountable in the weeks leading up to an election.

Missouri's gun owners and sportsmen expect their elected officials to represent their interests, not those of the liberal House Speaker from San Francisco.

That is why Gun Owners of America stands with Vicky Hartzler. She will oppose any and all gun control schemes that come to the House floor, and she will fight to remove unconstitutional gun laws on the books.

Vicky gets it right when she says, "Only the people have Liberty -- Washington's power is on loan."

GOA urges all gun owners and sportsmen to get behind the Hartzler campaign by volunteering, putting out a yard sign, and contributing to this important race. You can visit www.vickyhartzler.com for more information.

And most importantly, please remember to vote for Vicky in the November election, and make sure your pro-gun family, friends and neighbors do the same.

Sincerely,

Tim Macy
Vice Chairman

A Take Out Order

What the hell is wrong with her?

Doesn't she know that the acceptable "progressive" vernacular for such sentiments is "snuff out"?

Sheesh!

Promising Results?

It used to be a given on the street: Get caught with an illegal gun, go to jail.

But under a new program in Birmingham -- one initially derided by some officers as a "hug a thug" rehabilitation effort -- there is another option: Gun Court. [More]
But what if you're not "a thug"--and who the hell are "Only Ones" to be tossing that term around anyway? What if you're a human being who knows you have an unalienable right to keep and bear arms, that no one has true moral authority to grant or withhold "permission," and that the entire concept of "gun restrictions" against anyone able to move freely through society--that is, anyone not confined to a controlled custodial situation because they have been adjudicated a danger to others--is a fraudulent assault on Liberty...?

I guess it all depends on how you look at things.

Some--the "enforce existing gun laws" crowd--see a promise.

Others of us see a threat, realizing that's exactly what the government was doing at Ruby Ridge and Waco.

Why Not Just Give 'em What They Want?

One Simple Way

You know, infringe on the right of the people to be able to purchase politically incorrect firearms. That'll show those Mexican drug lords! [Read]

Wretched Marxist subversi...I mean, "New York Democrat" Eliot L. Engel said it, I believe it, that settles it.

And best of all:
A return to enforcement of the import ban requires no legislative action...
So we can just do it. And you have no say in the matter!

Simple Eliot here might be surprised at what else doesn't require legislative action.

One point of order--BATFU says:
Non-sporting firearms are still prohibited from importation under sections 922(l) and 925(d)(3) of the GCA. Because the vast majority of SAWs are nonsporting, they generally cannot be imported.
So the only conclusion I can draw is, what...?

I confess I don't really understand arcane BATFU infringements. From what I've seen, they don't, either. We're apparently supposed to find out by surprise when the kill team knocks our door in.

It is the simplest way, you know.

South Park nails it.

We're the Only Ones Grounding You Enough

On Monday, St. Paul police were once again checking out reports of strange lights when they found Sawka flying his kites. They cited him for disorderly conduct, public nuisance and being in a park after hours. [More]

This is a job for "law enforcement"!

And, of course, if he didn't obey, "established department protocols" along with the requisite thunderbolts would come into play.

Put the kite down, Franklin, and come along quietly!

Is Ike Skelton 'a steadfast supporter of freedom'?

But the thing is, NRA's Cox didn't describe Skelton in terms confined to just that one issue. He called him "a steadfast supporter of freedom."

Shall we test that? [More]

Magazine spotlights UK shootings

It illustrates a larger theme that, in spite of bowing to just about every infringement the gun control crowd can think up, their hypothesis fails in every laboratory where the experiment has been conducted. Guns exist. To try to limit their possession to government is not only an impossible dream, but where it's been tried it invariably produces nightmares. [More]
