Flesh that Out for Us, Scott

It’s doubtful that, should an American dictator somehow try to consolidate power, citizens armed with firearms would actually be able to halt that dictator’s rise through violent resistance. Before You Decide

Before half the country decides that I am a crazy liberal and stops reading here, let me note that I am a security professional, and a 12 year veteran of the Navy where I served as a weapons system technician, base police officer, and firearms instructor. I am proud gun owner. I’m also a single father. I do not want to ban guns but I do want to protect my son from the dangers they pose. [More
Plus he writes for The Daily Beast!

This Day in History: May 14

The language of it is at the same time cautious and comprehensive, and seems to make eventual provision for our Independence, without betraying any purpose of acknowledging it. The terms peace and truce are scarcely applicable to any other Conventions than National ones. And the King is authorized to annul or suspend all acts of Parliament whatever as far as they speak of the Colonies. He can therefore clearly remove any parliamentary bar to his recognition of our Independence and I know of no other bar to his treating with America on that ground. All this is however very different from a real peace. The King will assuredly prefer war as long as his Ministry will stand by him, and the sentiments of his present Ministry, particularly of Shelburne are as peremptory against the dismemberments of the Empire as those of any of their predecessors. All Kinds of Potentials Leap to Mind

I see this expires in November, and have no idea about its continuity, but I have been told:

My [spouse] is an attorney and works for [REDACTED FED. AGENCY].

Today they were given instructions to report prohibited possessors if they come across any in their case work along with a memorandum of what the prohibited possessors are.

They're expanding who is reporting them, even though reporting should happen at the source, to all agencies because the reporting from the sources is incomplete.

In other words, if someone is committed to a mental institution, and it shows up in their medical records being reviewed by another governmental employee in the course of their duties, they're  required to report it in case it was not reported before so that the individual can be entered into the NICS system.

To me, it's a statement about the current issues with background checks as they are now, and is a demonstration of how the government is expanding who can report into NICS.
So non-LEO departments are being recruited to  do mandatory reporting on users of "government services."  For instance... gosh., there are too many possibilities to contemplate.

I have not investigated this any further. My ability and sources for looking into this in greater detail are limited, but there are a few people I can pass this information on to to see if I can independently validate it.  I post it here in the hopes that someone who can will, and will share their insights.

They're an invasive species, and there's not a lot you can do except try to better seal your house (yeah, good luck with that if they're getting in somewhere under the siding). Everything I've read says they invaded the country a few years back and the true eradication effort needs to start at farm fields, which means it won't, thanks to our wonderful Prozi EPA and their environmentalcase agenda.  Meanwhile, house sprays are discouraged, because if they die in the walls, they stink and attract more of their kind.  So for the duration of the hatching season, I'm pretty much stuck with CAREFULLY grabbing them with a piece of tissue and disposing of them.

And now I find another pest, a virtual one that's every bit as obnoxious and objectionable. This one, I'm going to try to squash:
[Click to read]

I don't put considerable effort into the work so some invasive parasite and those intentionally releasing them into the environment can affix themselves to it and smell up the place.  It certainly tells me all I want to know about whether or not they should be trusted with my business and all that entails.

The Greater of Two Evils

Where are the Conservatives? [More]

Establishment "Republicans" will do everything they can to derail principled Constitutionalists, and then hit them with "Who else you gonna vote for?"

Meanwhile, they'll be supported by a corps of cynical professional promoters, bolstered by a volunteer  contingent of Kool Aid-drinking useful idiots, to ruthlessly attack anyone suggesting principles actually matter enough to act on.  They'll use self-serving platitudes like "The perfect is the enemy of the good" and accuse anyone who balks as being responsible for losing the election!!!

No, the ones who are responsible are the ones who offer no real choice.  Ol' lefty Prof. Quigley had 'it pegged, and some of us refuse to fall for the grand con job any more.

Right, I'll be supporting frauds like this unprincipled f***  real quick...

But then the Democrats will win and you'll lose your guns!!!

No, because at that point, election results don't matter. I have guns, and because WE ARE EVERYWHERE, "they" are going to need to come and take them. They can't get everyone's, and they know that. Being dared to try is what made them balk at mass confiscations in New York and Connecticut. The BLM/Bundy mess is just a taste of what could be in store on a national scale, and add in people who are prepared and know what they're doing, and it's tyranny's worst nightmare.

Of course RKBA is a deterrent against it.  Why do you think they're so noisy about attacking its proponents as "domestic terrorists"? It's because they know how fragile their grip really is once a critical mass of people realize the whole machine runs on fraud.  And that scares the hell out of them.

Be done "compromising."

‘C’ grade for anti-gun Sheriff Brown by Calif. gun group should be an ‘F’

Because even though it’s not a good grade, a “C” is a passing one. Santa Barbara gun owners who don’t know any better will vote accordingly, so what CRPA will end up doing, after seeing evidence of Brown’s betrayals of his earlier “A,” and after meeting with NRA members he’s shafted, is help Bill Brown get reelected. UK 'journalists' epitomize snotty attitude toward U.S. gun owners

The writer is terrified by the appearance of a woman with a gun? Really? That explains a lot right there. People are afraid of things they're ignorant about. That leads to prejudice, which combined with admitted fear and obvious resentment, can result in hate -- and when ignorant, fearful people hate, they often try to destroy. [More]

I would think the government would be largely ignoring it, too.

I'm just not getting where GunPolicy.org, generally a good source for global gun laws (it's ultimate purpose to support citizen disarmament notwithstanding) gets off telling us "The regulation of guns in Nigeria is categorised as permissive."

Really? By whom, Michael Bloomberg?

Because, as we then learn:

Guns in Nigeria are regulated by the President
What could go wrong?  But wait, as Billy Mays used to say, there's more!

In Nigeria, civilians are not allowed to possess machine-guns, military rifles and handguns
Add to that licensing, a need to prove "genuine need," registration, and hell, it sounds like MILM Paradise over there. Until such time as some anti-human hive insect characterizes that as "permissive" and starts closing "loopholes"...
