Q: Where in the Constitution is this authorized?
A: Are you serious?
Any other questions?

We're the Only Ones Making Hip Shots Enough
Utah officer accidentally shoots self in hip [More]Ah, another nominee for the coveted Lee Paige Medallion, in recognition of the "Only Ones professional enough" to carry a gun.
On the plus side, at least the article doesn't tell us "the gun went off."

Have You Seen Me?
Furious Mike's stalwarts are hot on the trail of an armed and dangerous suspect. You know--one who ignores the laws that keep the subjects disarmed. [Read][Via Qi Ji Guang]
Take the Linda Pillo Challenge!
Chief Pillo made a claim that you just don't hear all that often anymore--that:I think area gun owners ought to make a point of dogging her at press conferences she appears at, and ask if we can get her all the equipment, tools and materials needed to do the job, will she video-demonstrate a conversion?
"Assault weapons can also be easily converted to fully automatic machine guns." [More]
We're the Only Ones Camera-Shy Enough
Officer who tried to seize woman's camera is fighting 15-day suspension for disobeying sergeant [More]Read what this punk "Only One" thug did to a citizen.
And he's fighting a suspension?
He's lucky he's not fighting a mob. If he keeps it up, some day he may be.

We're the Only Ones Slap-Happy Enough
Murrah’s mother and a longtime friend urged Sturns to grant him probation, saying he is a good father whose 5-year-old son would be devastated if his father were jailed. [More]Y'know, my family would be devastated too--not so much if I got sent to jail for such an offense, but more because I would have presumed to be the "Only One" authorized to spank a stranger's naked butt in the first place.

What Advice Would You Give This New Gun Buyer?
Besides which, the whole "list" question" assumes government will end up going door-to-door confiscating. If such a thing happens, my assessment is most of us (or you) will probably have enough advance indicators to see what's going down, the logistics of mass national confiscation being what they are with the sheer number and widespread distribution of gun owners. If it ever does happen, all this talk is going to be academic anyway, and you're going to have some choices to make that will require a lot more soul-searching than taking advice from some guy on the internet. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner column attempts to answer some questions. I'm soliciting your input.
Also meet the new Pittsburgh GRE and get the latest from the rest of my colleagues.

This Day in History: January 30
On January 30, 1778, General Washington gave a report on the result of a General Court martial held on January 23, when a soldier of the artillery was tried for desertion and stealing a horse from General McIntosh. The soldier was acquitted of the desertion charges, but found guilty of theft and was sentenced to receive 100 lashes on his back and have "half his pay stopped monthly until General McIntosh is fully satisfied". We're the Only Ones Social Networking Enough
“The police officer was chatting on Facebook,” said Brown. “I think that’s wrong.”Hmmm--how to prove it?
So Brown took out his cell phone and took a picture. That’s when he claims the officer arrested him.
“Pulled me out of the car, grabbed my phone, and I said I don’t think I’m breaking the law here … I’m not under arrest,” said Brown.
Brown said the officer then said “Well, you’re under arrest now.”
Brown said the officer handcuffed him, took the phone and hauled him off to jail.
Brown claims he was never read his rights and the officer wouldn’t give him his name. As for that picture, Brown said when officers returned his phone, the picture was gone. [More]
I'd think a subpoena to Facebook would confirm activity at the time being alleged...and if it turns out to be a case of "Only One" citizen abuse as a method of CYA, he should be unfriended and introduced to another "social networking group".

Jumping Claims on Your Rights
Another stupid CEO decides he doesn't need your money. [Read]
If you decide to make sure he doesn't get any, don't forget they're more than just a restaurant--they also have a line of frozen foods.
UPDATE: It appears there are concerns as to whether this reflects corporate policy. Read comments and also see this.

What Happens to Quitters in Furious Mike Paradise
In 2006, Mr. Chen spent 30 days in jail for choking her and punching her in the face, and since then Ms. Wu had received at least five orders of protection against him. [More]See, there's the problem--she should have tried for six.
On the plus side, at least the outcome was in accordance with the wishes of Bloomberg, Kelly, Helmke, Sugarmann, Peters...
And hey--at least the killer didn't use a gun!

Say It Ain't So!
"BATFE agent commits perjury" [More]I'm so disillusioned.
As I've asked before, "If we can't trust ATF under oath, when can we trust them?"
Vermont Environmentalcases Against Ammo
The House Fish, Wildlife & Water Resources Committee is currently considering legislation (H. 484) which could potentially ban the sale and use of virtually all ammunition in Vermont. [More]The ironic thing is, the unintended consequences were such an ill-advised bill to pass could actually end up putting a lot more "toxic chemicals" into the environment.

We're the Only Ones Seasoned Enough
A police officer accidentally used pepper spray instead of a fire extinguisher on a man who set himself on fire Wednesday in downtown Portland, police said. [More]Understandable. I can't tell you how many times I've accidentally used carbon dioxide instead of chipotle sauce to marinate meat for fajitas.
But then again, I'm not a highly-trained "Only One."

Indiana Lawmaker Projects Fear of Own Self-Control Onto Gun Owners
Toy pistol in hand and cap on backwards, Indiana State Representative Vernon Smith resorted to bizarre theatrics in his failed bid to prevent a pro-gun bill from passing in the House. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner column revisits an emotionally challenged politician that we met here yesterday.

Political Moron of the Week
Indeed. [Read]
I know some advise us to be polite when we write to legislators. I'd say all things considered, I showed admirable restraint.

Trigger Sports Live!
You can watch yesterday's interview here.
We discuss a video about open carry that starts at around 16:50. My segment starts around 22:30.
I'm trying to figure out why the camera is so jerky. Last week I had it set at 30 fps and it worked OK but every once in a while would freeze, like too much data was streaming in and clogging the pipeline. This week I scaled it back to 25 fps and it looked fine on my end, but in playback looks jerky, more like 5 fps. My Internet connection is high speed cable, but the lights on the modem were flashing a bit yesterday, so there could have been connectivity issues--we are having some weather here. Then again, it could have been with Skype, or on ASTN's end...
Ah well, I never claimed to be Dr. Zarkov...but I'll keep working on it. Any ideas on what I could try from those of you who work with technology more advanced than my old pull-start model will be welcome...please use very small words and try to talk like Johnny Weissmuller's Tarzan if you don't want my eyes to glaze over.
