Fifty Cal Alert

The antis are soiling their panties and trying to perform a partial birth abortion on a range. A Keyboard and a .45 has the details, including a link to a petition.

My message when I signed:

Save the range.

Newbies foul their nests in the states where they live and then try to impose the same foolishness in the places they fled to.

If they have a problem with disclosure, the correct action is to sue the realtor who they allege conned them and see if the courts agree.

Typical anti-gun liberals--punishing the people who didn't do it.

Save the range.
Just be careful afterward on the petition site--it directs you to a Paypal donation page.

You don't--and shouldn't have to be--a .50 owner to support this action. Let's all hang together on this.

UPDATE: Jed cautions that Triggerfinger has concerns that only signatures, not sentiments will count, and this will be used against us. The way around that is for the Fifty Cal people, who got this ball rolling, to print out a hard copy of the comments, and get it to the County officials being petitioned.

Whoah. Looks to me like signing that thing is a vote in favor of moving the shooting park. Will the people who put this petition up report all the negative comments, or just that they got n signatures?

See TriggerFinger's commentary.

I was taken back a bit when I first read the petition, but I figgured the folks behind the range were thinking as deviously as I do.

That thought has been confirmed, so you can sign the petition without worry so long as you also post a comment supporting the range.

Here's my comment that I posted:

Save the Shooting Park! The homeowner's moved toward what they perceive as a nuisance. If the homeowners were truly not informed of the range, they need to take this issue up with the sellers and the sellers' realtors and attorneys. Additionally, lead from bullets that ends up in the ground has been shown time and again through REAL SCIENTIFIC studies (as opposed to non-scientific studies done by political pressure groups) not to be a health threat: the lead does NOT leach into the ground water, and the lead does not dissolve! Lead is highly inert in its metallic form. Lead poisoning is generally caused by lead that is in non-metallic forms like lead salts or paint chips. To say otherwise is inaccurate and hysterical. Likewise, if the noise is an issue, a better course of action might be to petition your state legislature to make it easier to own silencers. In several countries in Europe, as much as I disagree with many of their positions, they have it right with regard to silencers because they are freely available to the public at large and can even be found at pharmacies. In fact, due to the dense population of Europe, the use of silencers is frequently MANDATORY at shooting ranges. Noise is viewed as a public health issue that is most easily and cheaply solved with silencers. Save the Shooting Park! Thank you.
