A Matter of Credit

SAF has negotiated an agreement with New Orleans regarding the firearms seized from lawful firearm owners during and after Hurricane Katrina. The issue is pending before the federal court in the case NRA & SAF v. Mayor Ray Nagin.
Meanwhile, over at the NRA press release, we find:
NRA has negotiated an agreement with New Orleans regarding the firearms seized from lawful firearm owners during and after Hurricane Katrina. The issue is pending before the federal court in the case NRA v. Mayor Ray Nagin.
Do you notice the difference between the two?

Anything at all?

You know, every time I start thinking about rejoining the NRA, they up and do something that annoys me so much that I put it off again.

Here is my message to NRA-IlA; Re: Nagin and confiscated firearms:

I see in you press release that you not only do not mention the SAF, but that you deleted their listing as a party to the suit. I was once a member of NRA, but after watching you write 2nd amendment restricting legislation and lobbying for its passage, I let my membership lapse.

I see by the grandstanding and the selling out of your allies, the character of the leadership of your organization hasn't improved. I made the right decision. When will you?

A paraphrase of my message to SAF:

It is good that the stolen firearms will be returned. It is not good that Nagin and his police chief got to negotiate away what is a criminal act. How many other armed robbers are shown this courtesy?

I hope you press forward with your lawsuit, since it seems no law enforcement people are interested in enforcing the law.

straightarrow - There is very good reasoning for these events with the NRA - POLITICAL reasons. Remember all those POLITICIANS on their board that act as FUNCTIONARIES? (Talk about WHO'S guarding the 'hen house'!)

Yea, that's right America, we have WOLVES in our ranks. But, were not going to EAT you! Noooo! Why would we do a silly think like that? (Just a 'nip' here, and a 'piece' there, you won't notice a thing!)

But, just as we POLITICIANS have to COMPROMISE. We have to be willing to COMPROMISE on YOUR RIGHT, in order to get things done right,....RIGHT?.....RIGHT?

Hey, where are you all going? Come back here! You can't turn your backs on us! We are the most powerful lobby in the world! Come back here this instant!

Cold, dead hands, remember? COLD, DEAD HANDS!

Nothing but naked force in going to make these or any other idiots like our own government change their ways. It is the only thing they understand and the only thing they will actually respond to. During WW2, the U.S. Navy left men adrift from sunken Navy ships to die in case after case. Halsey blundered twice into typhoons, losing ships and men. He left a major landing unguarded and damn near caused a catastrophe for ground troops as well, only averted by the extraordinary heroism of a few destroyer Captains, who were also left in the water to die. Nothing, absolutely nothing, changed. Halsey was allowed to retire, never disciplined. He, like the men who sat on their well-fed asses and let 3,000 die on 911 while pissing away 400 billion on defense each year committed murder by incompetence, stupidity, and sloth. Nobodies head rolled over that one. The NRA is filled with fat cats who know how to game the system and couldn't make 10 minutes in a stand-up fight. Moderation is their creed, and our coming brush with slavery. If it makes them burp a little louder to give SAF short shrift, and a laugh to all there, hell, it's worth it. But think of those sailors floating in the water, wondering why their mates ain't coming to pick em' outta the shark infested waters. Gives you a pretty good look at how they look at us, and everybody else who ain't them. Sons a' bitches.
