A heavily rewritten gun-control bill takes aim at assault weapons and, if approved by the Legislature, could lead to the banning of certain firearms in Nebraska.

Nah, they're just fighting back. Those of us who whooped and hollered about all our 'victories' were forgetting the nature of the beast we're fighting.
I note that in the original Federal "assault weapons ban" (which sunset because it was objectively shown not to have had a positive influence on crime statistics), the 'thumb-hole stock' was not included.
However, the halls of the Democratic Cloakroom were alive with the sound of muttering that the thumb-hole stock was an end-run on the 'pistol grip' clause.
Obviously, the GFW contingent is learning from their experiences: if they want to deny reality, they have to cover all possible permutations of a literal interpretation of their laws.
Note to GFW liberal legislators: In the words of Jeff Goldblum's character in "Jurassic Park" -- "Life Will Not Be Denied".
Plus they must want these guns to be less accurate by forcing removal of such stabilizing features--you know, make it where you're less likely to hit what you want to and hit something/someone else--for safety!
