Am I the only one wonder why an ATF agent was pointing his gun at the clerk?
Vinnie, if you reread the article you will note that nowhere did they state he was pointing a gun at the clerk. They said they saw that he had a gun. That makes me suspect the gun was holstered, or otherwise contained but not in hand.
It seems that their little bit of misdirection works. You fell for it, as I am sure many others did.
You really must read what they don't say also.
This is not to disrespect you in any way, just some advice you might find helpful, or not.
As for the clerk having his hands in the air, I sort of got the impression, again, from the lack of further detail, that he may have been restocking an overhead cigarette bin or some such other normal task.
As I said, I can't be sure of anything like that, but the lack of specifics does tell me that the impression they want us to have is not in accord with what actually was happening.
For anyone who has raised children and has access to young grandchildren this is just "spot the partial truth used as lie" 101.
Besides, what is odd about an ATF agent pointing a gun at an innocent person? You think that is a rare event?

Sounds as if the ATF agent's ego got in the way and could have gotten him shot. Any plainclothes officer knows, when he's approached and challenged by a uniformed officer, to lay his sidearm on the counter, verbally identify himself as an officer, and ask for permission to produce his badge and ID.
An idiot responding otherwise is asking to have his wife or mother presented with a flag.
