We're the Only Ones Forced Busing Enough

One witness described the exchange saying, “The officer (Erin Robles) initially confronted the student over a cigar. Some words were exchanged and the officer “slammed the student into a wall, threw him on the ground, took out her Pepper Spray, slammed him into the bus, broke the window out of the bus with his head, sprayed him in the face and slammed him into the bus some more.” [More]
Hey, someone had to teach the kid that smoking is bad for his health.

Based on the charges they want Marks to plead guilty to, I expected to see a deputy in mortal danger from a big out-of-control mob. I saw laughing, but no lynching.
"students verified these accounts as accurate and are terrified there will be repercussions if they speak out against LASPD tactics."
Then making examples works.
For a little while longer, maybe.
I hope there'll be video of the riots.

When you cannot afford bail you are effectively "temporarily" convicted from the moment of arrest as you can spend more than a year under lock and key until your trial. If you are eventually found not guilty, how can you regain that time spent in jail? Is the Special Needs student continuing his education while in jail? Doubt it. What real consideration is given to the 8th Amendment - "Excessive bail shall not be required..."? Continuing to jail those who are not flight risks or dangerous to the community is punitive.

It appears that too much weight is given to the year-old markings on a backpack by the Special Needs student, and to the judgment and word of the officer that was pepper spraying the other student. Mere presence at the scene of other students does not equate to assistance to escape. Is the officer by her actions stating that "if you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem" or "if you are not with me then you are against me"?

Laughing at an only one is about the worst thing you could do.
