This is why we stock up on multiples, cases of ammunition and stuff, right?
If and when it hits the fan, I might say "I told you so," but I'll also say "You don't have a lifejacket? Here, I brought a spare."
A truly commendable project, albeit
limited to those who tolerate FaceBook.
Given a choice of a Sig P228 with magazines of 13+1 or 15+1 rounds of 9mm ammunition, or a Sig P239 with 8+1 rounds of .40 S&W ammunition with two spare magazines for each weapon, my choice for concealed carry is the smaller quantity of the larger caliber in the smaller weapon.
However, that choice is mine to make, not any government, unless they are issuing the weapon and providing the ammunition and magazines. Perhaps the Coast Guard has the better compromise of a Sig P229 with 12+1 rounds of .40 S&W ammunition, but that is the choice they made for duty carry by their personnel, not for off-duty carry by their personnel.
I think the nuts are concentrating on the magazine capacity because that is the one thing that truly stands out about the shooting. If Loughner was wearing a shiny gold Kung Fu outfit with an open hand embroidered on the back of the shirt, they would be trying to outlaw Kung Fu outfits and reruns of David Carradine's show (Kung Fu) would be taken off the air.
One other thing that stood out to me was that in Arizona, where shall issue of carry permits has been the norm for some time and recently "constitutional carry" has become law, not one person in that crowd actually had the means to fire on Loughner from the start. How many deaths and injuries could have been prevented if Loughner had been stopped at around discharge number 10, or 5, from his firearm?
