By Any Other Name

Prosecutors are asking a judge to prohibit defense attorneys from referring to the men shot by Kyle Rittenhouse as rioters or looters. [More]

How about "the guys we're not allowed to say what they did"?

Can the defense ask the judge to prohibit prosecutors from referring to Rittenhouse as the accused, the suspect, and the defendant because they're pejorative?

"Prosecutors are asking a judge..."

The Judge gets to make the call. That's why we have judges.

At any rate, the English language is rich with synonyms. I'm kinda fond of "reiver" myself.

It will be interesting to see which runs out first, the prosecutor's objections, the defense's supply of synonyms, or the judge's patience.

At any rate, the prosecutor seems to be trying the judge's patience already. Let's see how far the judge lets him run before the judge "reminds" him who's really running the trial.
