Promises to Keep?

To induce Ukraine to give up the nuclear weapons inherited on the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the U.S., Great Britain and Russia agreed to provide assurances. But it wasn't enough for some to have Ukraine divest itself of the considerable stockpile of Soviet nuclear weapons and lauchers. The also convinced Ukraine to divest itself of a considerable stockpile of conventional arms, and then signed a treaty guaranteeing Ukraine's independence and integrity.

Who was instrumental in getting all of that done? Well, it was freshman Senator Barak Husein Obama (D-IL), that's who!
