Marathon Men

I received an email from correspondent Xenophon that I found an interesting read. He's given me permission to share it with you.

I find it fitting that Saturday, DC will have a massive display of the "TEA PARTY" movement which I hope will be a demonstration that "...WE ARE MAD AS HELL AND NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY LONGER.." and thus continue the "awakening" of those who have been asleep for decades as our Republic has decended into a "Statist Utopia" ruled by "Philosopher Kings".

It is also interesting to note that Saturday is the 2499th ANNIVERSARY of the Battle of Marathon, which as you know pitted 10,000 ATHENIANS and PLATEANS against 150,000-300,000 invading Persians in one of the defining battles in the history of human civilization. [who could have imagined that this was also the first attempted invasion of the "West" by the "East"]. ATHENS was victorious even though vastly outnumbered [as are we], because their cause was just and they were willing to do what was necessary to triumph and preserve their Republic and thus all of Western civilization.

I am encouraged that even in these difficult times, "We Happy Few" remain willing to confront the Leviathan in it's "lair" with the message : "...ENOUGH IS ENOUGH...", like our forebears did almost 2500 years ago.

Edward Shepherd Creasy/"The Fifteen Decisive Battles in History", commented: "....THOUGH THE FIERCE DEMOCRACY OF ATHENS WAS ZEALOUS AND TRUE AGAINST THE FOREIGN INVADER AND DOMESTIC TYRANT, A FACTION EXISTED IN ATHENS WHO WERE WILLING TO PURCHASE A PARTY TRIUMPH OVER THEIR FELLOW CITIZENS. “He jumped through my window, and I grabbed my cell phone to call for help,” she said. “When I looked at him, he pepper-sprayed me. He handcuffed my hand and was trying to pull me out of the vehicle. So naturally, he charges her with "aggravated battery, resisting arrest, violence to a police officer and disturbing the peace."

The good news is, it looks like he won't be an "Only One" any longer.

The bad news is, he didn't just suddenly arrive to the point where he had confidence that he could stalk and assault citizens. That's an attitude that takes reinforcement to develop.

It's hard to believe no one among his handlers or peers ever noticed it.

NV Senate Candidate Sharron Angle Also Deserves Gun Owner Support

Good answers. Good record. Those who make the gun issue their main focus should definitely consider supporting her.

But wait--didn't I just say the other day that I supported Danny Tarkanian?

Yep. And I still do. I think his answers to the questionnaire should be spread far and wide. And I think the same should be done with Sharron Angle's. No law says I can't encourage contestants for the same position who do the right thing on guns. I've also sent this questionnaire to others in the 2010 NV Senate race, including, just to be fair, Harry Reid. And I'll be reporting their responses (or the lack thereof) over the coming days or weeks. [More]

Last month, the Shreveport Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board voted to reinstate Willis on the police force. He'll get full back pay and benefits for the year-and-a-half he was fired. The reason? During the internal investigation of Willis, a polygraph machine operator failed to record the results of his Q&A with Willis. This apparently is a violation of Louisiana's "Police Officer's Bill of Rights," a set of guidelines every department must follow when investigating officer misconduct. [More]

Is there any question in your mind what would happen to a citizen who defended himself against this drunken thug?

I'm not saying "Don't," I'm just asking why anyone would hang around to find out?

We're the Only Ones Making Home Deliveries Enough

Clayton County police are looking for two assault rifles stolen from a police squad car late Thursday night.

And what's this?

The two submachine guns were taken from the trunk, she said.

Really?

Ah, our good "right wing" friends at Faux News clarify:

High-powered assault weapons were stolen from police cars and a U.S. Army soldier's vehicle...

According to the police report, missing are a MP5 machine gun, a Bushmaster XM15 machine gun...

Right. "Authorized Journalists."

Still, this seems to be happening a lot lately.

It's almost like some "Only Ones" are starting to sense something disconcerting in the wind. Either that or...

Where There's a Will There's a Way. Or is There?

Tommy Sherman sent me the following observations via email, and gave me permission to share them with you:

Several years ago an old widower I knew of died leaving a very extensive and historic gun collection to his only child, a daughter. She had a 13-year-old-son that understood the value of the guns and that some of them were family hand me downs. Despite frantic begging by the grandson to keep the collection, the daughter was having none of it. She unloaded the whole lot for pennies on the dollar to the first one who could write her a check. She then quickly spent it on "Stalin's baubles" (hats & shoes).

Most wills are not worth the paper they are written on. Several years ago a friend at church died and his widow called me to come look at his guns and see if I wanted to buy them. He had less than 10 as I remember. She mentioned that in his will he had detailed out to which relatives he wanted each gun to go to, but that she wasn't going to honor his request and was just going to sell them. I told her she needed to honor the request of the man she loved and lived with for all those years and then I left. I never did hear what she finally did, and who would be willing to contest a widow unless it was a big lot of items? In all probability none of his family knew what was in his will. If at all possible one needs to get things where they want them before one expires. The ones that involve their family members in shooting & self defense don't seem to have near the inheritance problems in general.

He then sent me this:

After thought: The old widower should have known what his daughter would probably do. What he should have done is set up a trust for the grandson with a disinterested third party as trustee and a copy to the trustee with a pre-arranged contract already in place. When setting up wills you need to imagine everything bad that could possibly happen. Parents all too often don't see their children the way they really are.

Now I'm not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV, but that seems like good advice.

I wonder if they apply that philosophy to people?

At least they recovered a weapon. Because if anyone but a highly-trained Chi-Town "Only One" had one, why someone--even children--could get hurt.

Iowa "Only Ones" can assault citizens with impunity and immunity?

I wonder when someone is going to give their immune system a real test?

I'm the "Only One" Well Respected Enough

We as a country have to work to control the output, availability, possession and use of firearms by changing laws, amending the constitution which gave these rights hundreds of years ago when they were not't [sic] faced with the problems we are today which are escalating on a daily basis. [More]

"The constitution which gave"...? Of course rights come from the state! Why, who doesn't know that?

Besides, we don't want to eliminate guns. We just want to control their availability and possession. Meaning they're available and possessed by "Only Ones"-- like me!

And just so you understand what he really means when he says "control":

If guns were not accessible, people Wouldn't be getting shot.......right!? It's guns that are in the hands of people. It's people that pull the trigger with the intent to cause bodily harm or death. Take guns OUT of the equation and the rest is obvious....

We have our share of anti-gun zealots over at Examiner.com. Typically, I don't link to them, because why drive traffic their way and reward them for their dangerous foolishness?

But this guy deserves special pointing out. Why? Per his bio:

Mark has been a police officer and investigator for 30 years. His experience, skills and training have made him well respected in his field.

Which probably explains why he considers the Supreme Court decision that police are required to advise suspects of their rights against self-incrimination "infamous." What a hassle. But there are ways around that...

Understand we write out own bio statements. So the assessment "well respected" is his opinion of how he is perceived. (Why do I suddenly hear The Kinks?)

I don't respect you, pally. I find your attitudes ignorant, elitist and despicable. I don't think you're fit to be in the same country with these guys.

We're the Only Ones Conjugal Enough

The men allegedly allowed an inmate -- who is a murder suspect -- to have an unauthorized conjugal visit, according to a news report. Days after the visit in Evangeline Parish, the inmate escaped Avoyelles Parish custody, although he has been captured since. [More]

And what did the "Only Ones" get in return?

Or did they do it just because they're such nice guys?

A Queens cop who prosecutors say couldn't handle that his ex-wife was dating a firefighter was charged Friday with hiring a hit man to kill her. [More]

That would certainly cool things down. And the hits just keep on coming?

I'll cede at this point the guy may have been set up--matter of fact, if we're to afford him the same consideration as everyone else, we must presume his innocence until proven guilty. After all, the whole point of the "Only Ones" Files is we all have the same rights, no more, no less.

An Excellent Question

Why wouldn't you support the people who are fighting to cage the government monster that's coming to eat everything that you own? [More]

Concerned American figures there are some natural allies out there for liberty activists to broaden the base with. I don't disagree. I've always believed in being inclusive that way.

I just insist on it being a two-way street. A lot of the more politically-minded treat this like it's just about money, and don't particularly want to be identified with icky gun people, because then the SPLC might attack them too.

Get this: They will anyway. No matter how much you surrender, if you don't surrender all they will smear you as a right wing hater.

Schaffer admits that he later sent similar photos (both nude and "partially nude") of himself back to the woman—using, believe it or not, "computer equipment belonging to the Goddard Police Department and the citizens of Goddard, Kansas." The coup de grace? He sent the e-mails when he was on duty. He also tried twice to have the local prosecutor dismiss the charges against the woman. [More]
