I'm actually seeing a lot of potential for liberty-minded people to embrace such technology's early warning and counter-surveillance capabilities. And more.

I actually met Clayton Moore when I was 10, and what a perfect age that was for the encounter. We were on home leave from my Dad's foreign job assignment and staying at a motel for a several weeks, and he was in the very next room for a few days while he did an appearance at a local amusement park.
Nice man. Patient with us. Dignified. Conscious of his responsibilities as a role model. Compare that to what we see today.

Mike called. His computer is still not working properly, and he's going to have to post from the library. Only problem with that is he got a flat tire and has to get that taken care of first.
It never rains, it pours. At least he was able to get a new phone yesterday, so he's not completely off the grid.
All that plus his health issues take a toll, including a financial one. I continue to implore those who get value from his work to help him reopen Sipsey Street and keep it in good repair.

In re his first observation, about adjusting counsel to accommodate for physical limitations and age, being part of the demographic that would have to rely on old age and treachery rather than youth-enabled conditioning and skills, I would just have to do what I can and realize I'd probably die if forced to take on what I can't.
God may be merciful, but His universe does not adjust its rules to accommodate such inequities. Some tests, us old guys will fail. Others, we might surprise people.
Not to say we should just give up altogether on the physical--but like the line goes, a man's gotta know his limitations. Plus, I have other priorities that would suffer if I spent the time needed for those chasing something I can never hope to capture.
This will change for the worse in a few years, but right now I'll get several miles with a full pack. No idea how many. After that, you'll be leaving me.
And the world keeps on spinnin'.

It Depends on What the Meaning of the Word "Own" Is
Among young people ages 14 to 24 who received care in a hospital emergency department for assault-related injuries, 23% said they owned a firearm in the past six months. And only 17% of those reporting firearm possession obtained it legally... [More]Since "ownership," that is, an exclusive right conferred by a lawful claim or title, IS a legal term, "possession" hardly qualifies. If you stole my property, or bought it from someone who did, it is not yours.
"Authorized Journalist" Michelle Healy and her USA Today (an "ethical" Gannett newspaper!) know that.
But I guess it helps everything sound more urgent and hysterical than a headline screaming "Nearly 4% of youths injured in assaults own a firearm." Plus it helps tar the entire concept of gun ownership among those who don't know better, that is, anyone who relies on that paper for information to shape their opinions.
That and employing Pavlovian stimuli like telling readers "22% reported ownership of highly lethal automatic/semiautomatic weapons," as if the former is even a statistically significant factor, and without defining comparative lethality criteria...
