We're the Only Ones Not Charging Enough
A 21-year-old college coed who handed cops a golden opportunity last year to arrest the “person of interest” in the Amy Lord murder and the suspect in two nightstalker-style assaults on South Boston women says she’s dumbfounded that police never brought charges against Edwin Alemany — even after she grabbed his wallet and handed them his I.D. Dave Workman broke this a week ago.
I noticed some ProgsTM [prag blogs :-)] talking about this over the past few days, and not a one of them would link to his Examiner.com article, although the blog they sourced did.
Mark Walters and I have a running joke about all the stories I post that we talk about, only to see a lag on Drudge of a few days until a "name" presents it as a newsworthy scoop.
It's unfair. And it does nothing but take the wind out of the sails of those doing the digging to unearth these gems. That's why I pointed it out.

Yeah, Good Luck with That
Anyone who loves freedom should raise his glass and make the toast, “This year in Galt’s Gulch Chile.” [More]Except:
The regulation of guns in Chile is categorised as restrictive. There ain't no place to run and ain't no place to hide. And I sure wouldn't start off by citing the diaspora as any kind of example for people to follow.
As for the "editor's note" that "Perhaps you might consider expatriation NOW, and then possibly returning to a newly seceded nation after the early unpleasantness," not if I have anything to say about who gets in to what those of us who stand fast salvage and build you won't.
Sorry. Good luck and all that, and so long, but if I raise my glass it will be to victory.
Colo. apartment gun ban shows new danger for gun owners
How this could be construed as "reasonable" in any U.S. court, especially with the Supreme Court having specifically found a right to keep a gun in the home in two separate cases, is unclear, but this could be a case where a specific conflict between private property rights and the right of tenants to keep and bear arms is tested. And the video accompanying the 9News report indicates more such bans may be on the way. [More]Today's Gun rights Examiner report notes a new line of attack we can expect to see more of.

Cardboard MBTA cop may actually invite crime once word gets out
This, of course, presupposes meaningful data trends can be established through such a limited sampling, especially since it has not yet been established what the reaction will be once criminals learn that police are trying to trick them with … scarecrows. In fairness to the idea though, the cardboard cutout looks like it would stand almost as good a chance at catching a nimble, youthful bike thief as its real-life counterpart. Your average bus driver is hardly likely to be able to physically intervene in a situation like this, and he's legally prohibited from having the means at hand to stop it instantly.
If any responsibility is shared -- beyond that primarily belonging to the little savages -- it would be with legislators and administrators who knowingly places those they compel attendance from in mortal danger.

Younger generation key to perpetuating 'legal' recognition of gun rights
The whole idea for this column came about when I was approached by a liberty activist, upset because she wanted to attend a gun rights event and they not only had no provisions for younger people, they actually weren’t welcome. That resulted in no small amount of hard feelings, and not only excluded the youngsters, but took the wind out of the sails of someone who wanted to be a supporter. What's a Company to Do?
Here’s a note to Debney. You won’t win. Massachusetts is too far gone ... Gun owners won’t approve. [More]I notice the gun magazines are addressing this dilemma, with FMG's "Shooting Industry" (a sister publication to "GUNS") noting on page 50 of their May issue:
While it's easy for internet bloggers to tell Colt, O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Stag Arms and other manufacturers of modern sporting rifles to get out of the state, that is no easy task. No, it's not. Defending freedom never is, and like the overused Spiderman quote goes, with great power comes great responsibility.
Rather than being leaders though, what you're going to see is the gun industry being led. If enough gun owners make the decision they will not give aid and comfort to their enemies by adding to the coffers of anti-gun states -- that is, if they do it in sufficient numbers to affect the bottom line of companies operating behind the lines -- we'll see incentive for movement.
It boils down to how many believe this is a vital line to hold, and organize and spread the word to make it so, and how many choose to remain oblivious and apathetic.
We're the Only Ones Gratuitously Sporting Enough
The lawsuit (“Gun Trouble,” Mobtown Beat, June 6, 2012) claims that detective Erik Socha and Cpl. Anthony Kidwell led raids on the Bords’ home and auto-repair business that were based on a bad warrant “in order to intimidate” David Bord and cause him “economic injury.” The operations also were undertaken “for gratuitous sport rather than for proper law-enforcement purposes,” according to court documents, and Socha and Kidwell, when presented with all the proper firearms paperwork after the raids, said “save it for court,” that the paperwork was “wrong” or “bull***t,” and “words to the effect” that David Bord “would never get his property back.” [More]Just a few bad apples, no doubt. Online resource exposes truth about lead ammo ban efforts (Video)
That you don’t live in California or don’t hunt are hardly relevant excuses not to get involved -- this is an area where all gun owners must band together, and now. Those who wish to eradicate the right of the people to keep and bear arms wage a perpetual campaign of incremental gains, and if they’re allowed to establish and secure this beachhead, they’ll use it to launch their next offensive deeper into the interior, against something that you hold dear. It's in all gun owners' interests to hold the line and then push back from here. [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner report urges all gun owners to get the lead out and keep the lead in.

Senate confirms Jones to head ATF following Heitkamp delay on cloture
A more likely green light indicator may be the National Rifle Association inexplicably signaling their neutrality and the National Shooting Sports Foundation actually backing the Jones confirmation, removing the danger of political reprisals, at least from the two major national organizations wielding commensurate money and influence. [More]This evening's Gun Rights Examiner report notes "leaders" bound and determined to either betray us outright or to let it happen through deliberate inaction.
Let the excuses about "political capital" begin.

California Attorney General says feds not exempt from state ‘safe’ handgun law
“You might notice, as did the California’s Attorney General, that federal law enforcement officers are not mentioned in this exception!” Michel pointed out. “The ‘Department of Justice’ referred to in this section is the California Department of Justice, not a federal agency. So the AG’s analysis is correct: federal law enforcement is not exempt from the ‘unsafe handgun’ restriction." [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner report asks why she's not doing anything about it if she has probable cause to believe current law is being violated.

What's in a Name?
TPM called Weiner’s communications director Barbara Morgan to discuss an unrelated story Tuesday and she went off on a curse-filled rant about Nuzzi, describing her as a fame hungry “b**ch” who “sucked” at her job. Morgan also called Nuzzi a “slutbag,” “t**t,” and “c**t” while threatening to sue her. [More]"Progressive" feminism revealed in all it's Opposite Day splendor, from the party of "women's rights"...
Kind of a double standard from when a "conservative" made the mistake of so characterizing someone demanding government-subsidized birth control for her serial casual couplings...
No wonder authenticated slutbags love Weiner so...
