Drawn into a Debate

Looks like there's some discussion going on and my handle came up:

I'm afraid to get involved, because CSGV might criticize me by calling me "white" again. I will venture this before I need to get back to  work:

Yes, of course the militia was intended to be "well regulated" when called into service. Members could be checked out to make sure the armaments they brought were as required. That said nothing about what they left at home, and what the people could keep and bear when not mustered. As Hamilton noted:
“To oblige the great body of the yeomanry, and of the other classes of the citizens, to be under arms for the purpose of going through military exercises and evolutions, as often as might be necessary to acquire the degree of perfection which would entitle them to the character of a well-regulated militia, would be a real grievance to the people, and a serious public inconvenience and loss...Little more can reasonably be aimed at, with respect to the people at large, than to have them properly armed and equipped…”
Item two, as long as we're going to be bringing up preambles, let's make sure we don't forget the one  that preceded the Bill of Rights, which made a point of explaining:
THE Conventions of a number of the States, having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best ensure the beneficent ends of its institution.
Anyone who does not concede 2A is a "restrictive clause" on government is quite simply a liar.

The Trouble with Trekkers

So many of them, particularly on the creative end, fall for their own line of Space UN bs.

All you need do is look at the United Federation of Planets flag.

That's why it's no surprise to see Leonard Nimoy and Patrick Stewart made the list. And to see Shatner, in spite of that "Boston Legal" clip, where gun owners think he's one of them because he was playing a caricature of a "right winger," stumping for PETA.  I suppose "A rat is a pig is a dog is a boy" is one way of showing Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations. And don't get me started on Brent Spiner.

So I guess it's no surprise to see Chicagoan David Gerrold, who's been milking Tribbles for the past going-on half a century, reveal himself to be an unreconstructed Prozi. He just slammed the door on a man who has a demonstrably superior vision of humanity's future in freedom.

#NotOneMore anti-gun hashtag not as viral as media wishes

It depends on what the meaning of the word “viral” is, because that will certainly be news to tracking websites like What’s the Trend and hashtags.org, where it’s not even registering as significant. Looking it up on the Twitter website, it appears to be an active enough hashtag, but then, it’s getting a lot of artificial help from the media. It also looks like not all who are using it are doing so in support of citizen disarmament. [More]

Gun threat against ‘Joe the Plumber’ warrants investigation

One does not know if “Jerry Gregory’s” comment is merely rhetorical or if he’s serious, and if he actually has the motive, means and opportunity to carry out his stated intent. When a stranger threatens to shoot you, it’s probably not a good idea to automatically write it off as being frivolous, especially since it’s pretty obvious this guy is not in a joking mood and since that’s the kind of crazy talk dangerous loons might actually engage in. Aside from the obvious flaws in such a scheme, such as a disgruntled, jilted spouse, greedy kids who want to inherit, a new definition to accommodate "modern families", etc., there's this little thing called due process requiring someone to go through more than just a judge rubber stamping a politically desired outcome. Not that Boxer cares about any of that. We all know the end game she wants.

Add to that in the Isla Vista killings, the family evidently didn't know their monster had guns, the sheriff never checked and everything was settled and hushed up nicely without resorting to California 5150 involuntary hold provisions. I still believe lawyers will want to see all of the family's -- and the family attorney's -- communications with the sheriff's office beforehand, to see what extent their being connected and influential had on decisions made, and to determine the likelihood that a family of lesser position would have received the same considerations.

You shouldn't use them for trivial crap.  But if you refuse to use it as a tool in the fight, you're ceding an entire battlespace to the enemy:

I was able to use Twitter and Facebook today to good effect:

It allowed my piece on Isla Vista to go viral, and reach far more people than I can on my own.  When trying to get my voice out there competing with establishment media, there is just no other way.

It's real simple--you only make "friends" with people you can check on -- for instance, I always look at what they post before accepting a friend request so I don't accept any antis, haters or obvious loons, you cut off anybody who turns out to be an @$$h01e, and you don't post personal details.

British Goods are issued from the Enemy’s lines with greater industry than they have ever been, and as is universally believed, with the knowledge, if not at the instigation of those in power. Indeed they would counteract their new System in doing otherwise. The sense of the Eastern States will appear from the ays & nos on the question. Gun-Grabbers Can’t Get No Satisfaction

Inconveniently for those who profit from blaming tools for evil, he did not use demonized items portrayed as “assault weapons” or “high-capacity clips.” In a state rated tops for gun laws by the Brady Campaign, there is nothing much else to do, short of a total ban, which, of course, is what angry citizen disarmament zealots with self-control issues called for, unmindful of a coordinated effort to hide the end game and work toward it in increments. That makes it problematic for those characterizing further restrictions as “common-sense gun laws” and “a good first step.” [More]
