Several states, cities, some unions and persons are withdrawing pension and investment funds from gun related ventures. Microsoft, Levi Strauss, the Men's Wearhouse, Progressive Insurance, Marriott, not to mention Bloomberg and Snoop Dogg, maintain policies to end gun ownership. State and Federal legislators see this and attempt to join the bandwagon looking for votes. Is it time for us to become more proactive and show these people that we can have a financial as well as a voting impact. I believe that having in place a zero tolerance program towards these folks is possible. There are about 5,000,000 NRA members and countless others in Gun Owners of America, 2nd Amendment Foundation, and millions others who should be in these groups. If there were a listing such as Angies List, for gun owners, more people would avoid doing business with the gun haters. I realize such a listing could be a hard undertaking, but the results over time would I believe be worthwhile. When a gun owner would need a new computer, new jeans, new car insurance motel reservations etc., etc., he/she could check the list and avoid the gun haters.I think it's an interesting idea, and could be expanded to include famous persons like "entertainers." I would also like to see specifically what it is each entity did to earn their place on the list.

FOX31 Denver found one camera disguised as a utility box that "was positioned to capture and record the license plates and facial features of customers leaving a Golden Post Office." Then the information campaign -- which someone would need to develop and finance -- would need to target actual NRA members, and more than that, get to those eligible to vote -- and of those, I understand only seven percent even bother.

Would I attempt to lead such an effort, or do I know anyone I could recommend?
No. I have no reason to believe we would be any more successful at that than we've been at generating supportive actions for other pleas from more than a handful. Plus, personally, that's not what I feel inspired to do, and if you don't have that sense of a calling, you'll burn out.

ATF temporarily shelves proposed ammo ban while power to proceed remains intact
While arguments are correct that M855 ball ammo does not meet ATF’s own definition of “armor piercing,” the larger point, that there is no legitimate authority to impose such criteria in the first place, is being missed. So when ATF declares they’ll be back, until such time as that usurpation is addressed and resolved, it’s prudent to believe they will be, at the first political opportunity. We already knew that Dold and Kirk were domestic enemies.
Schock wasn't hard to figure out, either. Kinzinger is a double-talking weasel. And Rauner doesn't take his oath past politically-motivated photo ops for Fudds.
Were I one of their constituents, I would work to defeat them all, even if it meant an anti-gun Democrat won. Otherwise, the party will rightly conclude it can dump whatever droppings it wants on your plate and you will have no choice but to lap it up, which gives them absolutely no incentive to work for us, instead of the other way around.
I challenge Illinois gun owners to organize and take one of them out as an example to the others.

I note you didn't explain what "immigration reform" means to him and to you, not to mention to Michael Bloomberg, with whom he has partnered on the issue, and what it will result in. Why is that? And how will it be different from allowing all current illegals to remain, enjoy a "pathway to citizenship" and have birthright citizenship babies, all of which Norquist wants, to accomplish exactly what only a few of us are warning against?
And what knowledge do you have -- not conjecture, not anecdotes, not platitudes, and certainly not more of your toxic misdirection -- to actually refute the concerns GOA and I share?

Campaign Fundraising
SAF launches nationwide campaign opposing Obama admin. ammo ban [More]Here's the thing -- the only way this "will lead to the loss of our Second Amendment rights by the time Obama leaves office" is if he has enough guys to take on about three percent of gun owners and probably a hell of a lot more than that when things get going. It intuitively bugs me to hear that type of rhetoric used, because it implies the right to keep and bear arms will be just handed over when ordered, defeating the entire purpose of having it.
Don't get me wrong: A properly-crafted lawsuit to stop his ammo grab can be a fine idea and worthy of being supported as one of the preferred peaceable redress angles to use. But I guess hyperbole and scare tactics are needed to motivate low-information gun owners to cough up funds to support it -- and make no mistake -- the intent of the 800 number at the end of the ad is to solicit donations.
I would respond positively to an ad explaining they are raising money for a lawsuit and why, and talking to me like I'm an adult. Candidly, the ad I see here, and the phone message I heard when I called and got my number on what I assume will be used as a solicitation list, did not inspire me -- quite the opposite, actually. That said, I confess when it comes to running a successful fundraising campaign, I'm not qualified to judge what works on the masses -- only on what works on me.
Show me the arguments that will be raised, an estimated budget to get things through the various phases, how funds solicited for this project will be used exclusively for the stated purpose, and how potential supporters will be told when various budget thresholds have been met, and I'll revisit this to see if I agree with the approach.
That is, if I can get a guarantee the phone number I called from won't be sold or otherwise used for purposes besides the advertised reason for calling the 800 number in the first place...
