Life in 'Our Democracy'

Yale history professor Timothy Snyder told Insider he fears American democracy may not survive another Trump campaign [More]

The Founders intended a democracy? And his position is the only way we can ensure one is to vote for candidates he supports? And we're getting a glut of similar media sentiments just when it looks like popular support for Democrats could crater in the midterms?

Curious that they use the phrase "big lie" seven times in this piece. Guess who coined it and why.

Beto and Shannon think that's "debatable." They were so looking forward to an "assault weapons" blood dance. Funny, how it took armed men to stop him.

It's also curious how long authoritah knew who the lunatic was and would only tell us he was a "British national." After much delay and no doubt "strategerizing," we learned it wasn't Nigel Incubator-Jones but Malik Faisal Akram.

Rigorous!

There goes the narrative.

Washington Post Throwing Stones Brings to Mind Cautions about Glass Houses

Anti-gun males like Waldman know that their smears and lies and attempts at wit aren’t working, and in fact, are starting to backfire on them. Not being anywhere near as clever as they presume themselves to be, they don’t know how to do anything else but double down. Meanwhile, more and more Americans are comparing reality with what media hacks are telling them, meaning his influence and tired, old themes are waning even further. [More]
It must infuriate them that despite their attempts to warn them off, politicians are striving to prove which one of them is more "pro-gun."

As an aside, I see AmmoLand has started reader article scoring, and I have a lurker out there who, based on the last few columns I checked, can't wait to get the first vote in:

Here's What I'M Doing This Afternoon...

[Y]ou are quoted as saying you would sign a constitutional carry bill. Unfortunately, those words are meaningless unless an open carry bill lands on your desk.   The House is expected to take up an amendment in the coming days related to NASA leasing “underutilized” property to private groups. Democratic leaders are referring to this as the "shell bill." It will then strip that legislation of its existing language and replace it with the text for the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. The House would then pass the updated bill and send it to the Senate as a "message." Then, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) will file a motion to concur with the House amendment. [More]

Another 'Single Issue' Tie-In

In the comments, GOA and GOF wrote, “The federal government possesses only the few and limited powers set out in the U.S. Constitution. None of those powers give the federal government a general police power to order mandatory vaccines. The federal government has no other source of authority, such as the commerce power, to command health decisions by Americans.” The comments continued to argue that, “if the OSHA vaccine mandate regulations were to be upheld, it could readily open the door to the federal government infringing the rights of Americans in many other areas of their lives, including their right to keep and bear arms, which is why GOA and GOF have a particular interest in these proposed regulations.”  [More]

Vaccines and guns? But...but...but "single issue"...

Now do one for "immigration." And score the votes. And let us know why. Like Larry promised (@45:00 into the conversation):

“Well the answer you're going to get from us at Gun Owners of America is ‘Absolutely should be part of the scoring,' and it's something that we plan on including in our rating of Congress this and next year, because, as we've already discussed,  if we don't block this amnesty move — now — before we get 5 … 8 million previously illegal aliens now voting, 85% of whom are, they tell pollsters, gonna vote for anti-gun Democrats, that's the ball game. That's it. We lose our Second Amendment, doesn't matter whether it's still in the Constitution in writing or not, the National Archives can't protect it from this kind of assault. Seems pretty unequivocal. Seems pretty correct.”

Speaking of Suppressors

The committee voted to continue the ban on the use of suppressors. What is interesting and frustrating is the mindset behind the decision. Only 8 states ban ownership of suppressors (CA, DE, HI, IL, MA, NJ, NY, RI). Only 19.3% of NRA members live in these states. Rather than recognize the rights of over 80% of NRA members in the 42 states that recognize our rights, the committee was more concerned that a competitor bringing a suppressor into a restricted state would reflect negatively on the NRA and the sport. My experience has been that not all sadists are bored and people who are are boring. We have access to more diversions than at any other time in history, so this suggests most of those pursuits are trivial or bad for you, and thus ultimately unfulfilling.

We've visited this money-maker before.

Anti-gun in real-life Liam Neeson plays an Arizona rancher/former Marine sniper intent on getting an "unaccompanied minor" illegal alien to his relatives of unknown legal status living in anti-gun Chicago.

Spoiler alerts aplenty follow.

Just to show how ignorant scriptwriters are about the laws Hollywood types are desperate to pile on, when stopped by a cop in pre-"constitutional carry"Texas and asked if he has any firearms, the Arizonan admits to a handgun under his seat and a rifle in the back of his truck. But he assures him they're both "registered."

Being pursued by cartels who came across the border -- legally, with visas -- he stops at a brick-and-mortar gun store in Oklahoma to buy more guns. Apparently being from out of state is no problem. The FFL tells him the system is down, so he has to come back the next day. He assures the FFL he needs them and is not a criminal, inducing the man who has his whole life tied up in his store that he isn't being played, which is all it takes to get the man to tell Neesom OK, he'll just "report them as stolen."

A bit later he figures he needs to teach the kid how to shoot and does so without eye and ear protection, and ends up handing the child a gun to keep on his person.

Once in Illinois, just south of Chicago, the FOIDless Neesom engages in the grand finale gun battle with the cartel and then drops the child off with said unknown-status relatives who, if any reality can be injected into things at this point, will no doubt raise him so that, once his "pathway to citizenship" has been bestowed, he will grow up to become a "gun sense" Democrat politician.

I haven't been this unimpressed with Hollywood's "knowledge" of gun laws since that crappy Death Wish remake where Bruce Willis buys a new machinegun from a Chi-Town gun store.

The stuff that dreams are made of, indeed...

Thank You for Flying Sharia Air

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined a bid by a former ExpressJet Airlines Inc flight attendant, who is Muslim, to decide whether her lawsuit claiming she was fired for refusing to serve alcohol to passengers belongs in arbitration. [More]

So she wouldn't have served the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)?

Meet the New Boss. Same as the Old Boss.

Justin Bibb sworn in as Cleveland Mayor in inauguration ceremony [More]

Looks like he took the same oath that Action Jackson did.

Hey, at least we're not Detroit.

The New Normal

Entitled, aren't they?

And "That's battery"? Really?

Gun Prohibitionists Hacks Going All-In to Disarm the Legally Innocent

It might be relevant to ask why such an obscure effort rates major national exposure in a premier, nationally-heeded newspaper, but anyone who has followed the symbiotic suckfest between oath-breaking politicians, the DSM, and the violence monopoly cultists sees this happen daily. Plus, we’ve all been exposed over the years to plenty of Astroturf presenting itself as popular grassroots demand. [More]

And the correct response to those who demand we obey insane totalitarians is...?

Speaking of 'Shall Not Be Infringed'...

According to the plea agreement, undercover agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with the help of a confidential informant, purchased 14 firearms from Goldman’s vendor booth at a flea market... [More]

Who? Goddam weasel...

That said, I've seen vendors like this at flea markets and marveled that they were so apparently unconcerned with "the rules"...

Some day I need to find the time to get Wayback Machine links for my John Shipley articles.
