‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Highlights the Struggle for Acceptance [More]
Yeah, I can see it's bee a real vale of tears.

Anybody actually believe the goal is "Live and let live"?

That means Bush has broken his pledge to the Republican Party, while others like Cruz have yet to fulfill it or break it. [More]
And what do we call someone who breaks his word?

You don't make a pledge unless you intend to keep it. Anyone who breaks such a commitment is a demonstrable self-serving liar who will say and do anything until the people whose trust they needed no longer matter.

Keeping Things in Check Redux

Fourth Estate Fifth Columnists in Training

George Zimmerman puts murder weapon up for sale ... The cold-blooded murder of Trayvon Martin... [More]
It ain't "murder" if you're found not guilty. But hey, it's a college paper. And yeah, it's an "opinion" piece. Still, are there no standards?

They say there are:
The STAR values accuracy and works diligently to check facts before publication. However, if inaccuracies occur, we want  to know. Please report errors to the editor at star@sonoma.edu.
That's cover for the Opposite Day "progressives" running the show. There was demonstrably no diligence in that lazy screed, no editorial fact-checking. Why not?  They're supposed to be learning a craft under guidance. Is there no adult supervision?

I guess that would fall on Paul Gullixson, Faculty Adviser. He's got all the right "Authorized Journalist" creds.

So, do any ignorant biases color his work product? (And they say there are no stupid questions...):
Yes, I believe more universal gun regulation is needed, particularly on assault weapons, which have no place outside of combat zones. That’s the kind of thing that I hope will be discussed on Monday when Rep. Mike Thompson hosts a hearing in Sacramento on gun regulations. Many locals will be in attendance. Thompson, chairman of the House task force on preventing gun violence, is advocating for legislation that would prevent people on the federal government’s terrorist watch list from buying firearms. That seems like an easy first stop on this journey.
No, I guess there is no adult supervision after all. Meaning these kids are perfectly primed to follow in the footsteps of their subject matter knowledge-free mentors.

After all, look at how the "pros" do it.

So Much for Mattering

Prosecutors said the 13-year-old, who has not been publicly identified because she is a juvenile, got the knife from her mother, 35-year-old Tamika Gayden. The victim, 15-year-old De'Kayla Dansberry, was stabbed during a fight that broke out Saturday evening in front of a housing complex on the city's South Side. [More]
Enabled and made inevitable by self-serving "progressive" rule...

What a "Progressive" Idea!

Therefore, if a citizen infringed on a state owned copyright by making a copy of a government publication, or reading that publication out loud in a public setting, or uploading it to the internet, they could be liable for statutory damages. [More]
Hey, who but a troublemaker wants to do that anyway?

‘Meet Obama’ Contest Continues Pattern of Discrimination, Disenfranchisement

If “undocumented migrants” have “earned” the right to vote, why haven’t they earned the right to win OFA-sponsored “Meet Obama” contests? And if requiring government-issued IDs disenfranchises minorities from voting, why add to the discrimination by requiring them in order to collect the prize? [More]
Here's your chance to tell the guy just what you think of him -- to his face.

Hey, if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear from "protective" totalitarians. Providing you're loyal...

How else do you selfish probable subversives expect the rest of us to "feel" safe? After all, to borrow some "logic" from the gun-grabber playbook, everyone is a dictat-abiding citizen until they're not.

It's What He Didn't Say

Bernie Sanders revealed Tuesday that shots were fired into his Nevada campaign office and that an "apartment housing complex my campaign staff lived in was broken into and ransacked." The Democratic presidential candidate did not explicitly blame his rival, Hillary Clinton, for the actions. [More]
Curious though, that no attempt was made to cast suspicion on "conservatives." The again, they no doubt have access to more circumstantial and contextual information than has been released...

A Classic Bystander Effect

Video shows woman being beaten while crowd watches [More]
I like the way the egghead shrink in the video says guns are to blame for no one getting involved. A classic scapegoating effect.

No guns were involved in this incident either, so he must be right!

It's your and my fault.

Nevada GOP Urges 'No on Bloomberg's Question 1'

This just in from Nevada Firearms Coalition:
Our esteemed NW Director John Jorgensen was a delegate at the Republican NV Convention. Through his diligence and persistence, he was able to get the attached as part of the Republican platform.  John was helped by several key people, but I really think if it wasn’t for his hard efforts, this would have never came about. This just proves what dedicated people can do against the carpetbagger money. Thanks John!!

Keeping Things in Check

We're the Only Ones Inside the Bubble Enough

Melinda Westmoreland, assistant district attorney of Tarrant County, unilaterally decided that the mere presence of a weapon near a police officer somehow interferes with the officers ability to do his job. [More]
I remember talking about the related Villalba bill when it came out a year earlier. The thing is, after no small amount of public furor, it was dropped.

So does this mean if you're lawfully carrying, openly or concealed, and you see abuse under color of authority, you need to back off from recording anything until you disarm? Or does this just mean "laws" are what the enforcers say they are?

A Question of Jurisdiction

That makes the land of Clark County a legal part of the State of Nevada, not federal land. [More]
Anybody have qualified insights into this claim?

UPDATE from WarOnGuns Correspondent "Rough and Ready":
Regarding your 'Question of Jurisdiction', there is an excellent article on the subject in the current issue of Range Magazine. The Article is titled 'Original Intent' by Michael S. Coffman, Ph.D. It begins on page 14. The article takes you step by step through the laws and acts during the settling of the West. It's involved, as there were many changes made, depending on the times and the politics involved. Unfortunately the article is not online, as it's in the current issue (Summer, 2016). It will become available online as soon as the next issue is published. Here's the link to Range's website: http://rangemagazine.com/
It's a great magazine and has covered the Hammond's plight extensively. The family's articles are on the left sidebar under 'Enemies of the State'. Reading them online is possible.
