Howard Goodman cites several examples where people could sure have used a gun or two in the workplace to defend themselves. Of course, he's too wrapped up in his own hoplophobia to realize that.
Yo, Howard--if some maniac starts shooting up the Sun-Sentinal offices, just what are you prepared to do about it?

Never mind that in half the incidents he cited, people went home with murder in their hearts, brought a gun back, and opened fire. Never mind that most of the places had "No Guns" policies. Never mind that such policies did not deter the shooter, but DID ensure that the victims were disarmed. His mind is made up. Don't confuse him with facts.
Also, r.j., never mind that there was no breakout of how many of the workplace gun deaths were the result of armed robberies, where the assailant was the only one not obeying company policy.
NOr was there a breakout of how many of these workplace gun deaths were the death of the assailant because an employee was armed.
Goodman isn't just ignorant, he is dishonest.
Nor is there an account of attackers repelled without a shot being fired--that is, physical violence being avoided altogether.
You're right, straightarrow. I've wondered how many of these "workplace shootings" were robberies, and not disgruntled employees. But the Brady Brats continue to lie, and to lump them all together in pursuit of their agenda
And Dave, his kind will NEVER admit that good guys repel bad guys with guns.
I tried to find a source to look at the actual study, versus some anti-gunner's take on the study. The only places I found it wanted between $10 and $20 to look at it. Needless to say, I think I'll pass on subsidizing the efforts of gun grabbers and just assume that the "study" was just as biased and flawed as most of the other junk science that comes out of the anti-gun culture.
If anyone finds the raw study someplace online where I can take a look at it, please let me know, you can email me through my blogger profile or post a comment on my blog entry on the subject.
