This is a placeholder for now because I have not had ads on this blog for years. In case I ever start up again, this will be the policy in effect:
The FTC has some fool nonsense rules about ads on blogs or some such and presumes authority over the First Amendment to compel the unfunded mandate that we who earn ad revenues make some kind of disclosure so you don't think we're getting paid to say nice things about people or God knows what, meaning they must think you're stupid, too. I have had a few ads on this site in the past and may do so again if I think it's worth a try. Combined, I probably couldn't buy a box of good cigars each year, let alone a bottle of George T. Stagg, and that is somehow supposed to compromise my morality to force me to say nice things about products and services I don't mean simply in exchange for filthy lucre. If you believe that, leave now--you're not smart enough to be here. Bottom line, aside from welcoming a sponsor, I will do no posts related to their products or services, or reviews of what they offer.
About "The Only Ones"
The purpose of this feature has never been to bash cops. The only reason I do this is to amass a credible body of evidence to present when those who would deny our right to keep and bear arms use the argument that only government enforcers are professional and trained enough to do so safely and responsibly. And it's also used to illustrate when those of official status, rank or privilege, both in law enforcement and in some other government position, get special breaks not available to we commoners, particularly (but not exclusively) when they're involved in gun-related incidents.
Comment House Rules
Keep them on topic. No spam. No threats against anyone except me. Do not feed trolls--I'll take out the trash. Try to keep it clean. I'm the final arbiter. If you don't like the rules, start your own damn blog.
Link Policy
WarOnGuns reciprocates links with liberty-oriented sites promoting the right to keep and bear arms for all peaceable individuals. If you have linked to me and don't see your site below, it's probably just because I haven't noticed it yet. Shoot me an email via the "Contact Form" (see above in this sidebar) if you want to fix that.
As a general rule I remove links for blogs that have been inactive for over one year.
You're not paranoid if they really are out to get you, and THESE thugs with badges proved it beyond a shadow of a doubt! And did anyone see the videos on the news about N.O. cops violently arresting a sixty plus year old man and harrassing a photographer? Obviously, this kind of stuff is no linger "isolated incidents". It is now tacit police policy.
This is SOP. Has been for a long time. I am not nearly so angry about the bully boy cowards in uniform, though, as I am about the accomodaters. Those citizens that always rise to the defense of a cowardly abusive cop, with all the apologia at their disposal.
If the constraints of law and "reasonableness" were applied to law enforcement and concomitant consequences were applied for breach of those constraints, we would have fewer thugs in uniform. We could quit training Cowardice and Non-consequence 101 at the Police academies.
Instead, what we have are prosecuting attorneys that are loath to indict cops for fear of non-cooperation in future cases.
There is also the fear that they will not be re-elected because the general population does not really believe in liberty. They are unwilling to risk the free will of their neighbors and cohabitants of the society, while at the same time wishing to exercise their own free will. These people are the accomodaters. Accomodaters as a group are not only unprincipled but stupid. They cannot see a danger to themselves as long as they can, in their own minds, marginalize the victims of these abuses. Once that is done, it is easy to say "Well, they probably deserved it. If not for this, then for something they weren't caught for."
This leads to the mistaken belief that state power is only used against those "other people". The stupidity of this belief is beyond the reach of language to describe, because to those that wield that power, we are ALL "those other people".
That is why we should be demanding the laws and rules apply to all, including the enforcers , just as it was intended. When we, as accomodaters, grant immunity to our servants, they become infected with arrogance and cruelty because they then evolve to a position of separation from the community and a feeling of superiority over it. That eventually grows into contempt for their fellow citizens. Unchecked abuse becomes eagerly sought opportunity for more.
One cannot expect much different from the inherently defective personality that seems to gravitate to police work. Thankfully, there aren't that many of them. The real problem is we (society) train the originally normal personality to be defective by removing his responsibiltiy to conduct himself with honor, and often reward his dishonorable behavior.
I feel pretty sure everybody here will think I am too harsh. Yeah? Think on this. What would happen to any other citizen that abused this woman like this and said "I was scared because she was under a blanket"? What would happen to any other citizen that shot at her? Would he not be held to a higher standard? You bet your sweet bippy. Evidently the higher standard is too tough for our "trained professionals"????

This is why the Police should be the only ones with guns right?
Is it paranoia if you're right?

*ahem* No LONGER "isolated incidents". My bad.

"I feel pretty sure everybody here will think I am too harsh."
Sorry, straightarrow--this is one of the few times when I vehemently disagree with you.
I don't think you were harsh at all. I think you were right on.
