Should Americans be allowed to have guns? Virginia's Attorney General says they should.
Correspondent Clint Kritzer tells me he's surprised I missed this.
Not quite--I've just been dreading having to update the map, but that's no excuse. Maybe I'll have time over Christmas break, with squabbling boys off from school and stomping about the joint...

I should have noted in my email that I first learned of this over at Uncle's place. The free press is alive and well in the blogosphere.
Virginia is developing a very good climate for gun rights. Members of the VCDL will be lobbying in Richmond on January 21, 2008, at the General Assembly as well. We will be there in overwhelming numbers wearing our orange "Guns Save Lives" buttons for identification.
Here is McDonnell's quote:
The right to bear arms secured in the Bill of Rights is a right ‘of the people’. We believe that our founders declared, in the Second Amendment, that American citizens have the personal right to bear arms as individuals. ... [This] case will likely be the most important Second Amendment case in American history. The result will have significant implications on individual liberty and the power of government.
The problem is that he does not say "right to keep and bear arms" -- he twice says "right to bear arms" -- I see that as a mistake.
