Another Reason to Invest in a Home Theater

...or to be armed if you don't. [More]

It might also be a reason to avoid making a nuisance of yourself when people have paid money for an event. You DO have the right to shout "Fire!" in a crowded theater, but you would be wise to remember that actions have consequences. The shooter obviously overreacted, but if people could get used to a polite, ARMED, society, boorish behavior might become more rare.

Nah, we just need prior restraint on speech...maybe some waiting periods, mandatory minimum sentencing, background checks.

I think we can pretty much rule out that "speech can't be dangerous" crap once and for all.

Putting aside the question whether paying for a ticket gives you the right to shoot people if they don't follow your orders, who but the shooter is saying that the victims were actually making noise and disrupting the movie?

I know exactly what kind of man this guy is.

FTA: "Lt. Frank Vanore called the incident 'scary that it gets to that level of violence from being too noisy during a movie.'"

I volunteer to cut the El-Tee out of his plastic bubble with my reciprocating saw. Muggers have been threatening deadly force for pocket change for more than a century. I've witnessed bar fights start over a hell of a lot less words.
