Cause and Effect

The number of police officers killed by gunfire in 2008 dropped to its lowest level in more than 50 years...[More]
Who thinks it's because of "gun control" edicts?

Who thinks making it even harder for you and me to buy a gun, or to further restrict what we're "allowed" to own or where and how we're "permitted" to bear arms will reduce these numbers even more?

What do I have to do to get some anti in here? Put out a welcome mat?

For myself I ascribe the drop in police officer deaths to the step up to equip every officer with a patrol rifle , while at the same time Mr. Helmke's efforts to ban such obviously dangerous guns such as assault rifles , .50 cal terrorist sniper tools , and the " big boomers " like the S&W .500 . The tireless efforts of the folks who keep all of us safe is paying off with dividends of saved cops . Once D.C. gets its response to the reactive, revisionist HELLER knee jerk Bush administration mis-decision dialed inn we will have common sense gun laws that we can use as an example across this fine nation. Then and only then can we take on the " shall issue " boondoggle which has made some 48 states a " Dodge City" from the old west with blood running in the streets . Now understand that Heller made things bad . We cannot " ban " guns , but we can create a regulatory labyrinth so that it is too inconvenient for the cousin humpin rednecks (who are barely literate anyway ) to keep up with , and assuming they are not part of the power , they cannot get a special exception or grace period . We must close that Gun Show Loophole , because after all terrorists normally buy guns at gunshows , and then send them to Mexico to kill cops down there . Dont tell me about border security because then where would i get my lawn boy to take care of my yard . If we stop the wrong sales of the cop killer guns here in the us , then i can keep my lawn boy , and maid/nanny and after all its a small price to pay and only common sense .

Sorry , best i can do .

That pretty much sums up the whole argument on the anti-gun side; the only thing missing is a "It's For The Children©" statement stuffed in there somewhere.

Did George Bush have anything to do with this? It DID happen under his watch.

More likely it was because the types of folks who normally kill cops were at a certain lightworker's campaign rally and serving as troops on the ground.

I'd expect the numbers to reverse drastically under Obama for a few reasons. They want more police on the street. More targets. They also are already sowing discord amongst the violent types of the left, pretty much all of them I think, by not doing everything as they want it done. The chance of anti-rights folks pushing more laws that get dangerously close to those lines in the sand for some. Border issues.

The lessons of Mumbai say they are kidding themselves and 10 or less people could turn their numbers so upside down they wouldn't even know which way was up.
