American Outdoor Brands has announced plans to split its firearms unit, Smith & Wesson, from its outdoor products business, citing "changes in the political climate." [More]I trust they didn't do it from the Rose Garden this time?
By the way, I've seen discussions on removing the internal lock or plugging the hole and just want to caution that if you plan to do that, consider potential liability risks and make your decision an informed one.

"Shares in American Outdoor Brands (AOBC) have plummeted nearly 40% this year as US gun manufacturers face a backlash from consumers and investors over the use of their products in mass shootings. A rifle manufactured by American Outdoor Brands was used in a 2018 mass shooting that killed 17 people in Parkland, Florida."
Well that's a steaming crock right there. Firearms sales rise in hostile political environments and then drop when the climate becomes more favorable. During Obama's administration, everybody who thought they might ever want an AR-15 bought one. Now everybody who wants one has one. What kind of mental midget wouldn't think that would have an effect on sales numbers?
So S&W will become a standalone company… just as it was for most of its profitable (pre-Clinton) existence. There’s progressivism for you — progress forward, into the past.
“Firearms accounted for more than 75% of American Outdoor Brands’ revenue in the most recent quarter."
Just wait for the employee layoffs at AOB. There’s no way this idea could go wrong.
