Good parents know that if you don't punish children in an appropriate manner as soon after an infraction of the rules as possible, in many cases the lesson just doesn't sink in.
We've been down this particular road more than once IIRC. NO did something like this after Katrina and the case was taken up the Federal court chain until, years later, NO got a slap on the wrist and an admonishment to not do it again.
Maybe its time that the People, you know, the ones mentioned in the Constitution, brought back corporal punishment for politicians that won't stay between the lines.
