So the whole point of the American Revolution was so that, once victorious, the people would have to "defer" their (and their posterity's) rights to the orders of rulers and their "standing army" enforcers?

This is the problem with living in a deep red state like Indiana. Republicans have such a stranglehold on politics that we don't really have much competition for slots and many of our Hoosier Republicans are useless like the Governor.
Defer to "law inforcement professionals" rather than to the plain English of the Constitution. Pure unadulterated arrogance.
And they WILL be coming for your guns, "just following orders.".
The bags of mud who rushed to defer will be retained in the lege and celebrated for their obeisance.
