We're the Only Ones Back on the Job Enough

Last month, the Shreveport Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board voted to reinstate Willis on the police force. He'll get full back pay and benefits for the year-and-a-half he was fired. The reason? During the internal investigation of Willis, a polygraph machine operator failed to record the results of his Q&A with Willis. This apparently is a violation of Louisiana's "Police Officer's Bill of Rights," a set of guidelines every department must follow when investigating officer misconduct. [More]
You remember Willis...he's the big brave "Only One" who really knows how to treat a lady:

Artificial government-declared privileges (aka "Police Officer's Bill of Rights") trump your unalienable ones. At least the government in Shreveport seems to think that.

That's why "The police have the power to suspend your rights" advocate Cedric Glover is a proud member of Mayors Against (Your) Guns.

We're the Only Ones Bringing Up the Rear Enough Redux

We talked about the cop charged with rear-ending a car/DUI here.

A GeorgiaPacking forum poster says the guy really is an "Only One."

Here's the initial post. Follow the thread for more info:
[T]his is one of the officers that decided to felony stop my wife, my father in law and myself for legally carrying a handgun.
You can read his account of the incident here. What sterling professionals. How to win friends and influence people.

Per Atlanta Gun Rights Examiner Ed Stone, via email:
The felony stop was committed against them because he was, legally, carrying a pistol in a belt holster. He was ordered to his knees at gunpoint! He reports in a later post how the officer's gun was shaking as it was pointing at his head.
Perhaps the Gwinnett County Police could use some encouragement right now on how they could improve public perceptions...

And what's with a weapons charge for a pocketknife?

Anyway, incidents like this always seem to bring out the cnidariaphobes, so I thought I'd demonstrate that jellyfishing is a great recreational sport that is safely and responsibly enjoyed by millions, and the actions of a few irresponsible criminals shouldn't be used to infringe on our rights.

Perhaps this isn't the best example...

Still, there's something proponents of all three approaches--and their critics--ought to be able to do now that could have a satisfying effect--and will only burden anyone supporting it for a minute or two. Gun Owners Should Support Danny Tarkanian for Senate

It's a bigger race. It's one we can win. And if we do, it will topple one of our most powerful politicians and shake the Senate to its core. [More]
Here's that second Gun Rights Examiner column I promised earlier today.

Without hyperbole, we actually have a real shot at toppling the socialist Senate majority leader with this contender--one who took my challenge and gave unequivocal answers to my questionnaire. As far as gun organizations go, I expect one major obstacle: NRA.

I hope some of you see the significance of this. I hope those of you who do see how this will not happen without your active participation and help spreading the word.

Observing who is silent on this one should be interesting. Please don't let it be you.

Then there's this from "a Scouts spokesman":
"Scouting helps to prepare young people with valuable life skills, while keeping them safe by not carrying knives."
That's true. You're preparing them for their proper role by teaching them the valuable life skills necessary to be subjects of an Orwellian nanny state.

Don't Let This Lie Go Uncontested

The lie is that "Threepers" don't involve themselves in the political process.

I'll put my record up against any blowhard who says this--especially the ones who libel us from the protective cover of anonymity. The only excuse they could possibly have to utter it is they are ignorant. The only other possible explanation is the person making such a statement is a liar.

Tomorrow I'm going to be talking about "the alleged leader of the merry band of Three Percenters" urging his readers to take political action in a very creative and worthwhile endeavor--something his critics, naturally, have been silent on.

UPDATE: My post here alludes to Mike at the end, but it became apparent while writing this column that it would be too long if I went into detail. It will all become clear in tomorrow's GRE.

Where There's a Will There's a Way. Or is There?

Tommy Sherman sent me the following observations via email, and gave me permission to share them with you:
Several years ago an old widower I knew of died leaving a very extensive and historic gun collection to his only child, a daughter. She had a 13-year-old-son that understood the value of the guns and that some of them were family hand me downs. Despite frantic begging by the grandson to keep the collection, the daughter was having none of it. She unloaded the whole lot for pennies on the dollar to the first one who could write her a check. She then quickly spent it on "Stalin's baubles" (hats & shoes).

Most wills are not worth the paper they are written on. Several years ago a friend at church died and his widow called me to come look at his guns and see if I wanted to buy them. He had less than 10 as I remember. She mentioned that in his will he had detailed out to which relatives he wanted each gun to go to, but that she wasn't going to honor his request and was just going to sell them. I told her she needed to honor the request of the man she loved and lived with for all those years and then I left. I never did hear what she finally did, and who would be willing to contest a widow unless it was a big lot of items? In all probability none of his family knew what was in his will. If at all possible one needs to get things where they want them before one expires. The ones that involve their family members in shooting & self defense don't seem to have near the inheritance problems in general.
He then sent me this:
After thought: The old widower should have known what his daughter would probably do. What he should have done is set up a trust for the grandson with a disinterested third party as trustee and a copy to the trustee with a pre-arranged contract already in place. When setting up wills you need to imagine everything bad that could possibly happen. Parents all too often don't see their children the way they really are.
Now I'm not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV, but that seems like good advice.

One of Our Experts

If you find a gun in your attic or if a relative dies and you find yourself in possession of a weapon for which you are unsure you have the required authority to possess, the law allows for you to hand it to a Registered Firearms Dealer. He will ask for your name but you are not obliged to provide it. He will then inform the police that a firearm has been handed-in anonymously and they will check that it has not been used in crime and then authorise the RFD to dispose of it legally.

The police would rather unlicensed guns be ‘in the system’ and they will not seek to penalise the honest hand-over of firearms that are currently unlicensed. If in doubt, you can contact Sporting Shooter for one of our experts to advise you. [More]

I wonder if they have permission to use all the images that appear in this story, or if they claim they all fall under "fair use"?

For instance, that William Kostric photo they used in the title post is an AP photo by Joel Page. I see no credit for it, and as they ought to know, AP has begun an aggressive campaign to charge for content. I use their stuff on Gun Rights Examiner, but that's because there is a license authorizing it.

I wouldn't be surprised to find AlterNet has a similar license, but lack of a credit under the picture makes me wonder. It couldn't hurt to ask AP if they do...at least it couldn't hurt us...

But let's just say the government listens to your fascist dreams and declares us enemy combatants.

Ted, you stupid infant, you irresponsible monster...

How many men like me would you have them kill accomplishing your goal? And what makes you think we'll allow ourselves to be "bundled off to Bagram" quietly?

"Authorized Journalists" Get it Wrong on Guns-- Again

Go look at the picture of the dreaded AR-47 over at Sipsey Street Irregulars.

It's not like we haven't seen such ignorance before.

And before that.

"Authorized Journalists."

Is there anything they don't know?

We're the Only Ones Overpowering Enough

Ex-officer at Otter Creek prison charged with rape [More]
Just a few bad apples, right?
He's 6th Otter Creek worker accused of sex with inmates
Hey, when it comes to "Only Ones," six is a few, right?

And yeah, I read it's a privately-run prison. Hey, it's all sanctioned by the state, and economic fascism just expands the opportunities for abuse.

We're the Only Ones Dreamy Enough

Security on the George Washington Bridge has been sound lately - sound asleep. [More]
Say, that's some security! Especially since the likelihood of the bridge being the target of a terrorist attack was deemed serious enough to warrant fortification.

And yeah, I know these sleeper agents aren't TRUE "Only Ones," like these guys...

Hamblen Makes Case on Video

We've discussed Richard Hamblen's case before.

He explains his case in a special You Tube video.

Motorhome Diaries summarizes:
Upon learning how woefully underequipped the Tennessee State Guard (which was created by law as an armed reserve force for the National Guard) was (21 rifles for 3,500 individuals) Richard bought weapons for himself and his soldiers. His actions resulted in the involvement of the ATF, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Supreme Court and a prison sentence. His case details the conflicts between US vs. Miller and Heller vs. DC and ultimately questions how the Second Amendment is being interpreted.

Police Group Lauds Citizen Militia, Right to Purchase Guns 'Without Restriction'

It's an excerpt from the Law Enforcement Digest titled "Firearms Control in the United States: The Position of The National Police Officers Association of America."

...I copied it from the September 1959 issue of Guns Magazine, the publication that hosts my monthly "Rights Watch" column. I've written before about how each month they post on their website the corresponding issue from 50 years ago, and how it always provides interesting insights from another time--insights that often help us understand how we got to where we are today. This Day in History: September 3

The American flag was flown in battle for the first time on this day in 1777, during a Revolutionary War skirmish at Cooch's Bridge, Delaware. Patriot General William Maxwell ordered the "Stars and Stripes" banner raised as a detachment of his infantry and cavalry met an advance guard of British and Hessian troops. [More]

We're the Only Ones Protecting Enough

A San Antonio police officer accidentally shot and killed a man who was being robbed and beaten this weekend, but authorities said Tuesday the rookie officer likely will would not face charges. [More]
No, of course not. Thus the "Only Ones" files...

As usual, bring a barf bag for some of the comments.

I wonder if District Attorney Susan Reed would "verbally clear" you and me under similar circumstances?

She doesn't exactly make asking her easy.

Probably too busy adding "vampire" to her fascist parasite CV.

It's a Game

"[S] he views guns as amusement devices that should be regulated to the point that you're only allowed to shoot them at shooting ranges, galleries or gun clubs...

It's like I mean you go to the carnival you know, like the roller coasters - it's fun. But that doesn't mean you get one to come home with. Doesn't mean you get to do your own home roller coaster - just leave it there, it's a game."
What should we call this game, Rachel Maddow?

How about "Risk"?

Because you obviously have no idea what's at stake. Or what happens to the losers.

GOP Establishment Targets Rand Paul

From an email:
On September 23rd, twenty three Republican US Senators are holding a $500 per plate fundraiser in Washington DC for Trey Grayson - Rand Paul's opponent. This deck stacking favoritism in a highly contested GOP primary is unacceptable!
Go to the KentuckyFight.com website to learn more. I don't see who the senators are, and that's important information to know.

Here's Rand Paul's stance on guns. It's good, although I wish he'd replace the gun in the banner with something a little less "sporting."

A cursory looking around for Trey Grayson comes up with this:
Judge Sotomayor’s record on the bench clearly demonstrates a long record of judicial activism on the bench. She has consistently held a narrow view of the Second Amendment. Her decisions have contained little reasoning or explanation for her views, and she has twice ruled that the Second Amendment is not a fundamental right.
Who has more information?

There is a way to settle this, you know...

We're the Only Ones "Forgive Us Our Trespasses" Enough

Discipline cases against dozens of San Francisco police officers would be dismissed under an amnesty program proposed by Chief George Gascón...

Those cases, he said, include charges such as use of inappropriate language, being discourteous, failing to properly fill out a police report or a first-time misdemeanor drunken-driving arrest. [More]
What better way to foster a culture that respects citizen rights, discourages the "Us vs Them" mentality, minimizes general barrel spoilage from the few "bad apples," and generally promotes respect for appropriate rules of conduct and the law? That's right, exempt San Francisco "Only Ones" from consequences!

Hey, I wonder if I drive drunk in Frisco if they'll give me amnesty?

I'd ask, but I remember what happened last time I asked "authorities" there if I could also disregard laws I oppose...

Kickstand Your Ground

Stand-your-ground defense clears Thonotosassa bicyclist in fatal shooting [More]
Of course, Paul Helmke would rather the bicyclist had been beaten to death...

Hey, it says the perp was 24, an age the gungrabbers consider a "youth."

Maybe the Bradys can salvage some blood-dancing capital and count this as "another child gun death" so it won't be a total loss for them...

Two Can Play That Game

A Health Care for America Now (HCAN) organizer is caught on tape outside the meeting instructing supporters on how to shout down opponents who get up to ask a question and how to block them from speaking at Rep. Jan Schakowski's town hall meeting. [More]
Just chant a slogan? That will drown out the proceedings and promote a simple message?

I could do that.

Another La Crosse Team Rape?

Received via email:
I have discovered that there was a gun raid in La Crosse last night or early this morning, I have not seen nor heard anything about this in the press. I there anything that you have heard about this?
So far, there's nothing returned from a Google News search. I guess I should go back and ask my correspondent how he "discovered" this.

If anyone has anything to add, please chime in. If it turns out to be a false alarm, I guess that's the price of vigilance.

Bills Don't Allow, People Do

Pandemic bill allows health authorities to enter homes, detain without warrant [More]
And it goes after the First Amendment right to assemble, too.

One point of contention with the article: A bill can't allow that--only the people in the home can. Fortunately for the authorities, it's in Massachusetts, so they probably will.

I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, but I wonder what the government and media is not telling us about this swine flu scare. For instance, stories I read seem to assume it will present a uniform risk throughout the land. I see no one really addressing if certain areas and demographics are more at risk than others--probably the inherent political correctness on the part of bureaucrats and "Authorized Journalists," combined with delving into that not fitting into the government's agenda of total control.

I wonder if Barry and Michelle will drag Malia and Sasha out in front of the cameras for a public inoculation just to show everyone how safe they think it is. Of course, that would lend itself to a whole new conspiracy about the vaccine being substituted...

A question for the freedom-minded: Say a really contagious and dangerous beastie is out there, a Black Death kind'a bug. What steps should be taken to prevent people who will not voluntarily segregate themselves from going out into the wider world?

I'd like to see that discussion.

Wow, they can sure get there fast.

Good thing it was just a frustrated non-violent blind guy instead of a hammer fiend.
