But that doesn't mean he's off-base in his suspicions. Or that we're off-base if we suspect such a generalized statement means there just might be more than one or two bad apples in the barrel...

What does it say about Boston PD when their own leadership doesn't trust them or believe them, and publicly admits as much?

And what does it say about that leadership to know they still consider lying "Only Ones" to be more trustworthy than the rest of us?

Taking a Flyer in Arkansas

A flyer appearing to be from the FBI has been turning up at local gun and ammo shops, instructing employees there how to identify suspected terrorists, but some store owners say its regulations might affect more than just enemies of the state. [More]

I've been trying to get a copy of the actual document. I asked Paul W. Davis who is from Ark. if he could locate one and this is his reply:

I talked to two gunshop owners today. One is a mom and pop that sells guns along with hardware, the other a large gunshop that deals with every firearm imaginable. The mom and pop owner saw the report, but no one ever delivered any kind of flyer to him, nor did he receive one in the mail. The owner of the large gunshop was out of town when the flyer was delivered, but was informed about it. They tried to call the number on the flyer, and the number was never answered. Before 40/29 did their report they tried to get him to talk to them, but he refused because he doesn't trust them. Nonetheless, he had it confirmed to him that they (40/29) tried to reach the number and it was not answered for them either. He does know the FBI was contacted at their normally published number and they claimed no knowledge of the flyer. The flyer his shop received, they destroyed when it didn't appear to be official. His take is that someone was trying to create a stir. At this point, a couple of things are apparent: If it was a government operation, it was a black op to determine reaction and nothing more. If it was not a government operation, the individual(s) responsible are attempting to stir the pot for reasons known to them. In any case, it is not "official" policy. Although, from what the gun store owner described as being on the flyer, he considered the points raised to be all the things they normally evaluate when someone is purchasing a firearm anyway. At this late in the game, it is highly doubtful I could get my hands on a copy of the flyer. I do not know too many other people who might be able to get one either. I will say this, if it were an official op from the government, they know every FFL in the entire area, and the mom and pop guy would have gotten one too. Whoever did this wasn't aware of all the different FFL's (we have dozens) in the area, or decided to hit only those shops which were high visibility and possibility only in a certain geographical area. Sorry I could not hit more shops, but that would require more time than I had available due to other commitments. I hope this sheds some additional light on the situation.

If anyone can shed some additional additional light, please do. In the mean time, I left a voicemail and sent this to the FBI public affairs officer in Little Rock:

Hey, give them credit: they may have saved his life. After all, if uncuffed, he could have lifted a finger against them.

Besides, as we've just seen, the potential for an on-the-job head injury could mean loss of "Only One" status, and they'd then have to approach physical confrontations on an equal footing. We can't risk that.

Had a town hall meeting tonight. Voters here are no longer willing to accept the stock "I'm an NRA member" answer when it comes to the 2nd Amendment.

County Sheriff was on board, as were a few other candidates.

The big message tonight was that it begins with each individual striving for excellence, but, to quote Ben Franklin, "We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately." when it comes to advancing our rights here in Illinois.

As far as I'm concerned, if there's any hanging to be done, let's do it to those who would hang us for claiming our rights.

About That Donation...

As an aside to my Scott Brown GRE column, I noted:

One last note, tangentially related to all this: Thanks to a heads-up find by "LaRue Tactical" over at AR15.com, we learn the proprietors at Atlantic Research Marketing Systems, makers of firearms accessories and gun sights, donated $1,000 to Coakley in a previous campaign. Those of you attending the SHOT Show, going on right now in Las Vegas, might want to stop by their booth and ask them why.

Well, someone did, and they inform me:

[He] wanted to try to make a clarification to a possible misconception that some people apparently held.

He admitted that he was aware of the issue of the donation to Coakly's campaign, and confirmed that donation(s) were in fact made, but wanted to emphasize that it was made some time back in the past, for her political campaign as Attorney General, not her recent Senate campaign.

Ain't no "misconception." I clearly stated: "donated $1,000 to Coakley in a previous campaign" and it's not like she hadn't already been previously endorsed by the Brady Campaign/Million Mom March.

If that's what they're telling people, they're clouding the issue. More Dan Cooper/HS Precision supplier support for gungrabbers BS, if you ask me.

They're free to support who they want, of course.

So am I.

This kind of stuff does make me wonder why we should give a damn about suppliers getting in trouble...

SHOT Show Bust Leaves More Questions than Answers

Unfortunately, the story seems to have had its day in the sun--for the immediate present. The most recent update from a Google News search is from two days ago. And as we've seen time and again here, it's not exactly like the "Authorized Journalists" have a great track record of bringing us unbiased and complete information regarding matters of concern to gun owners. And so far, the SHOT Show and National Shooting Sports Foundation websites are silent on the matter, as is NRA.

So we're left really with questions, not answers, and it's likely to remain that way until something breaks loose--possibly a statement from lawyers for the defendants. [More]

Answer truthfully, the TSA worker informed her, and everything will be OK.

Solomon, 5-foot-3 and traveling alone, looked up at the man in the black shirt and fought back tears.

Put yourself in her place and count out 20 seconds. Her heart pounded. She started to sweat. She panicked at having to explain something she couldn't.

Now picture her expression as the TSA employee started to smile.

Just kidding, he said. He waved the baggie. It was his. [More]

Ah yes--the same mentality that pulls the wings off flies.

He has authoritah! You must obey him! Your emotions are his to toy with!

Why shouldn't they be? He's empowered to abuse you with no repercussions. What do you expect--respect?

Thing is, and with many such tales, we know the citizen's name--we don't know who the pig--and that's what he is--is. And we're not going to find out.

Davis said privacy law prevents her from identifying the TSA employee. The law prevents her from disclosing what sort of discipline he might have received.

Pity that. It means when people have finally had enough, they're liable to take it out on the parties who only abetted things through complicity and silence, as opposed to the "Only Ones" actually responsible for generating deserved hatred.

First off, I reject the authority of any senate to "give" me any rights.

Second, why give the eggheads "Only Ones" status when the current "Only Ones" shouldn't even have "Only One" status?

Hell, in most cases, the damn college professors are part of the disarmament crowd anyway. Yeah, I'm real sure once they have their place at the table they'll be clamoring for the rest of us to be seated.
