Sunday's Armed American Radio Program

Last night turned into an impromptu Round Table.  Host Mark Walters was joined in studio by attorney John Monroe of Georgia Carry and on the phone by George Hill (The Mad Ogre), and producer Sean Young. I came in at 8:30 and stayed on for two-and-a-half more hours, and in that time we were joined by Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America who had just gotten back from helping the shovel  brigade in Tombstone.

I haven't had time to listen to the podcast but I have the nagging feeling that I slipped up when I meant to refer to Atticus Finch when talking about shooting a mad dog and may have called his last name Stevens.  I don't know why I would have made that mistake, but I am getting old.  Maybe I didn't.  Who cares?

These are absolute, bald-faced lies. ATF has been copying FFL Bound Books for years – with or without FFL permission. During annual compliance inspections in other states, FFL dealers have reported that ATF industry operations investigators (IOI) brought in digital cameras and photographed the entire dealer “Bound Book” without permission of the FFL holder. Other dealers reported investigators brought in digital scanners and scanned portions of the Bound Book – line by line. Of course, the Bound Book contains the dealer’s full record of lawful firearm sales transaction records. [More]

The Battle of Connecticut Farms, fought June 7, 1780, was one of the last major battles between British and American forces in the northern colonies during the American Revolutionary War. Hessian General Wilhelm von Knyphausen, in command of the British garrison at New York City, made an attempt to reach the principal Continental Army encampment at Morristown, New Jersey. Knyphausen's advance was strongly met by companies of the New Jersey militia at Connecticut Farms (present-day Union Township). After stiff resistance, the militia were forced to withdraw, but the battle and skirmishing that preceded it sufficiently delayed Knyphausen's advance that he remained there for the night. Gun Owner Opposition to NRA-Backed SB1034 Compromise

Kurt wrote about the bill here.  I was asked to but did not have time to do the requisite research--I still haven't. But I do note there is some strongly-felt opposition from within the gun owner community, and, as their voice is not a loudly or widely heard, am going to paste an email I received on this below for reader consideration:

During the last minute secession that saw the NRA compromise on an amendment too SB1034, State Representative Mike Bost threw an absolute fit on the House floor because he said they didn’t have time to consider and ponder over the legislation sent to them. (video link below it’s 1.33 minutes long, a must see) 

The bad part is even with the claim that the Illinois House didn’t have time to consider and ponder over legislation the House still passed SB1034 because the NRA told them too! Now thanks to this list minute deal the “NO FLY LIST, TERROR WATCH LIST and VETERANS DISARMAMENT LIST” can be added to the FOID data base. PLUS the amendment will allow for a massive up-grade too the data base the runs the current outdated FOID card system. 

Attorney General Eric Holder wanted the up-grades and the NRA capitulated. Apparently the NRA is happy with the gun control requirements of the Illinois FOID card. The Bill is BAD and it was made at the last minute without any regards to the people their property or their lives! We don’t need the FOID card in Illinois so why did the NRA/ISRA save it again? 

We still have a chance to stop this bill by having the governor to veto the bill.

Operation Fast and Furious and Similar Firearms Trafficking Investigations The OIG is reviewing ATF’s firearms trafficking investigation known as Operation Fast and Furious, and other investigations with similar objectives, methods, and strategies. The review is examining the development and implementation of the investigations; the involvement of the Department (including ATF, the Criminal Division, and USAOs) and other law enforcement or government entities in the investigations; the guidelines and other internal controls in place and compliance with those controls during the investigations; and the investigative outcomes.

Today's Gun Rights Examiner report shows what happens when public information gatekeepers act more like paid security deciding who's cool enough to be admitted to an exclusive private club. The LA Times is just now getting around to reporting on what Mike Vanderboegh and I told them about Gunwalker back in Jan. 2011. And significantly, their ambassador raises the possibility that the government's intent may not be what they claim.

I've been told Lamar Smith said Holder will be there and he'd better be prepared to answer questions, and am trying to track that down to confirm A, he said that, B, Holder will be, and C, they'll be prepared to do more than utter meaningless threats that they're really, really, REALLY gonna do something if he doesn't shape up and play ball soon, by golly, we're SERIOUS this time...don't MAKE us pull over...

I'll update this if I can nail down more information.
