As I said then, and will repeat now, I had my reservations about attending both events, but went ahead and did it because friends asked me to, and I help my friends even if it isn't easy -- that's what friends are supposed to be there for.

- A quick question, guys, about something that has puzzled me for years about the NRA and others who oppose essentially any restrictions on firearms: what exactly do you think the agenda of gun control advocates ("anti-defense fanatics") is? I grew up in a small town in Texas surrounded by guns, and spent many a Sunday afternoon firing them with my dad and his friends; I've also listened to quite a bit of Alex Jones' material, so I understand there is a fear that the federal government is planning to herd everyone into concentration camps (or whatever), and that this would be much easier to do to an unarmed population. Avoiding the question for the moment of why they would ever want to do this (it would immediately destroy the US economy and evaporate the wealth of the Powers that Be, which wouldn't seem to be to their advantage). What I'm curious about is what you think the ulterior motives of millions of private citizens who favor controls on gun sales are? What motivates them if it's not a genuine desire not to see so many people murdered with firearms? Thank you for your time and consideration.

majority of ordinary citizens who agree with gun control have motives of
wanting to see fewer killings and an inclination to look to government
for the solution.
I don't consider that to be an excuse, though. I consider it to be citizenship malpractice -- we owe it to ourselves and to our countrymen to be informed, and to understand that our votes have consequences that can lead to the use of force against others by those we enable.

I would like to sincerely apologize for the pledge campaign that was initiated by Coloseum Software Corp. yesterday. Our intention was not to provide an anti-gun or anti-FFL dealer message. Our intention was to unify and protect dealers against the coming storm.
When a financial crisis befell truck drivers in the 1970s, they united and went on strike, pulling over en masse and going idle. I suggested the pledge with the same spirit. I was moved to attempt to demonstrate how important we in the firearms industry are to the economy and to our nation. I humbly accept, based on the backlash that I received, that I failed to inspire those in this with me to take action. In retrospect, rather than suggest a no-sale day, I understand that perhaps I should have suggested we show our support by visiting an FFL dealer on January 25, 2013.

The initial "libertarian" reaction might be to agree with this, but here's the thing: Notice he's not pushing for legalizing it, which could severely cut into cartel "profits," causing them to scale back on unprofitable operations simply as a market reaction. That's not part of the plan, which requires even more "problems" only a monolithic monopoly of violence government can "solve." Keeping it illegal and then turning an intentional blind eye, establishing an official policy of overt deliberate indifference, not only allows, but encourages the gangs to continue, to thrive and to grow. It guarantees a ratcheting up of violence, creating more high-profile opportunities to con the gullible into demanding more citizen disarmament, all the while redistributing plunder extorted from the productive sector to expand federalization/militarization of all police functions, plus giving self-promoting politicians a hot media spotlight.
Oh, and by the way, we need to up your "fair share" to pay for all this, and if you don't like it, you're a racist teabagger.
