No person shall engage in a demonstration within the Supreme Court building and grounds. The term “demonstration” includes demonstrations, picketing, speechmaking, marching, holding vigils or religious services and all other like forms of conduct that involve the communication or expression of views or grievances, engaged in by one or more persons, the conduct of which is reasonably likely to draw a crowd or onlookers. The term does not include casual use by visitors or tourists that is not reasonably likely to attract a crowd or onlookers. Reese lawyers reply to prosecutor move to deny assets for defense
For their part, the Reese family is preparing for the new trial the prosecutors would deny them, and need funds released so they can defend themselves against a legal opponent that enjoys virtually unlimited resources, and that has tried to further add to the family's crushing financial burden by moving to deny them the right to joint representation of their choosing. Firearm-Related Violence
In 2010, more than 105,000 people were injured or killed in the United States as the result of a firearm-related incident. Recent, highly publicized, tragic mass shootings in Newtown, CT; Aurora, CO; Oak Creek, WI; and Tucson, AZ, have sharpened the American public's interest in protecting our children and communities from the harmful effects of firearm violence. While many Americans legally use firearms for a variety of activities, fatal and nonfatal firearm violence poses a serious threat to public safety and welfare.
In January 2013, President Barack Obama issued 23 executive orders directing federal agencies to improve knowledge of the causes of firearm violence, what might help prevent it, and how to minimize its burden on public health. One of these orders directed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to, along with other federal agencies, immediately begin identifying the most pressing problems in firearm violence research. The CDC and the CDC Foundation asked the IOM, in collaboration with the National Research Council, to convene a committee tasked with developing a potential research agenda that focuses on the causes of, possible interventions to, and strategies to minimize the burden of firearm-related violence. Priorities for Research to Reduce the Threat of Firearm-Related Violence focuses on the characteristics of firearm violence, risk and protective factors, interventions and strategies, the impact of gun safety technology, and the influence of video games and other media. SAF Radio Campaign
From SAF, via email:
In response to Mayor Michael Bloomberg's national anti-gun ad campaign, the Second Amendment Foundation today launched a public education and awareness effort on more than 160 radio station websites and the Fox News Radio website.
The audio spots and banner advertisements will run in conjunction with streamed nationally-syndicated talk radio programs including Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Gov. Mike Huckabee and Michael Medved, among others to explain its legal and educational efforts and encourage public support.
Major radio stations and markets will include WABC, New York City; KABC, Los Angeles; WBBM, Chicago; WNTP, Philadelphia; KLIF, Dallas; KGO, San Francisco; WBZ, Boston; WWRC, Washington, D.C., and markets in Atlanta, Houston, Seattle, Phoenix, Tampa, Minneapolis and Detroit.
A series of advertisements will air on "threats to firearms rights and SAF's response through litigation against unconstitutional gun laws."
We will highlight legal abuses of constitutional rights, and explain how we challenge such laws in the courts to protect our liberty. We've secured tens of thousands of dollars in advertising time to get our message to the public.
The effort is expected to reach millions of listeners, many who may be learning of SAF and its legal and educational programs for the first time.
If additional funds can be raised for this critical advertising effort, we will be able to continue and expand the campaign.

Bloomberg bus tour coy with locations and dates for a reason

Physician, Heal Thyself
Interview with Dr. Adam Goldstein on assessment of competency for concealed-weapons permits and physicians' roles in reducing gun violence. [Listen]
First of all, who requires this? Would this be the result of some kind of court order?
He says there were no standards so he basically made them up as he went along. What are his credentials and what are the peer-reviewed authorities and processes that validates decisions? What recourse does someone who is denied have, and what liability does the doctor have if he nixes a permit and the patient becomes a victim?
This is just so incredibly dangerous with making physicians de facto deputized law enforcement agents. We've already seen disincentives to get something as basic as grief counseling.

Pro-gun Republican wins vacated Democrat seat in Connecticut
That is significant, particularly in Connecticut, where draconian measures were enacted in the wake of Newtown, and where Democrat Gov. Dannell P.
