No doubt an unsavory element exists among the protestors, bolstered by provocateurs, just as it does here, but what about "average" people seeing everything they've worked and paid for being used against them by usurpers and betrayers?

A Reader Reports on Olympia

Good narrative. It helps give those of us who were not there an accurate impression of what it was like.  And the bit about trying to set Mike up, including his explanatory addendum at the end, is telling. [More]

I noticed Mike also linked to some "progressive" coverage of the event in another post. When I read some of the furious insults from comment posters at the "Raw Story" link, it's not only quite obvious how much they hate people like Mike, like me, and hopefully like you, but it suggests as a metaphor the obscene, terrified and murderous rage exhibited by the demons in "The Exorcist" whenever the priests got close and hit a nerve. It's not my intent to offer an admittedly unqualified theological impression here, but the thought does strike that John 8:44 seems as good an explanation as any for such abominations, although I wouldn't argue with a secular diagnosis of "psychotic," either.

No worries, though. It turns out, as a second PA announcement lets everyone know, this was only a “lockdown drill.” It sure would have been nice of them to tell the kids that, before subjecting them to child abuse via psychological torture. Messages from Mike

So His Mom Can Give Him a Hug

I agree that adult jail is no place for this young murderer.  But then, neither is next door. [More]

Some things are so broken they cannot be fixed, at least without tools. We can't have enough knowledge from one "news" account to know if that's the case here, but something is obviously haywire, and his physical capabilities are going to grow, as will a hormonal cocktail coursing through his veins. At a minimum, some sort of custodial imposition is called for, and it's not for a matter of time, it's for a matter of validated restoration of trust.

One other thing that's always bugged me: "The boy."
The Associated Press generally doesn't identify juveniles who are accused of crimes.
Why not?  If some defective-for-whatever-reasons little reptile down the street is burning kittens, I want to know about it. I'd think parents of young children living nearby would also benefit from that information, if only to be more aware and better able to keep theirs away when he's let out of his cage and is once more free to stalk among them, as so often happens under the present system.

We've seen the same phenomenon time and again with stories that identify suspects and victims by name, but then give "Only Ones" privileges and refer to "the officer."

And as long as I'm on a tear about names, I'll add how unfair it is for the media to shield the names of rape accusers. We're supposed to have equal, not preferred protection. The presumed innocent until proven guilty suspect has his name and reputation dragged out in front of everyone, and it's not like modern "feminists" want any truck with "patriarchal" gallantry and chivalry. Then, of course, we have the sterling examples of Tawana Brawley, Lena Dunham, et al...

  • I'd say you're probably right. But why not do comparatively easy things now and avoid all those dead "ants" if possible, especially if some of those may be us or our loved ones?
  • Were that the only factor, I'd not be so cynical. But appeals have reached untold numbers of gun owners nationwide, including from having been shared on Twitter by activists with thousands of followers, and after this last push, the number now stands at a whopping "52." That's indicative to me of wider-spread apathy. Any guesses as to how many fewer have ponied up a contribution?

Yeah, Right, "Molon Labe!"

What's happening in Nevada WILL be spreading to the states. The group doing the fighting there has "a Twitter feed where the latest news and information will be posted for sharing." Despite that being shared, only 39 are currently even doing the bare minimum of following them to get that information.

The enemy likes it that way.

Which means even fewer are actually doing anything to help. So much for the vaunted power of "grassroots." No wonder some of our "leaders" feel compelled to compromise. It's not like the ones doing the loudest bitching ever raise a finger to help with the heavy lifting.

But hey, we can no doubt count on costless anonymous internet bravado to win that next civil war for us!  I can't think of a better way to guarantee one than doing nothing now to use the considerable resources still at our disposal.

First I've got to find out where they're registered. News accounts make it sound like a DC operation, and I don't see anything listed with various secretaries of state in likely places like New York.  Naturally, the DC corporations website differs from every other I've tried in terms of offering an intuitive way to do an entity search -- perhaps it's there but not obvious to me.  In the interim, I've sent this, not that I have high hopes it will be responded to:
