Fast and Furious Document Release Highlights Continued Arrogant Stonewalling
It’s pretty representative of how “progressives” in power view an armed citizenry. Not the Only Ones
Federal Civil Rights Lawsuit Filed to Strike Down Gun Control Exemptions for Retired Law Enforcement Officers [More]Good. Although that can't be making NRA too happy.
Curious, though. It relies heavily on Silveira and is backed by Calguns. They were the ones who kicked me off their forum for rebutting a prominent Calguns member attacking me, among other reasons, for supporting Silveira. That would be the same Silveira the establishment did its best to kill (and incidentally, NRO then reneged on a promised rebuttal).
It's also curious that a primary reason Silveira failed was due to an earlier case that the"establishment" gun groups backed with this result:
After conducting a full analysis of the amendment, its history, and its purpose, we reaffirm our conclusion in Hickman v. Block, 81 F.3d 98 (9th Cir.1996), that it is this collective rights model which provides the best interpretation of the Second Amendment.Silveira also resulted in an outstanding dissent.

| How can you tell if Barbara Bellis is lying? |
Superior Court Judge Barbara Bellis said that a 2005 federal law protecting gun-makers from lawsuits does not prevent lawyers for the victims' families from arguing that the semi-automatic rifle is a military weapon and should not have been sold to civilians. [More]They can argue all they want. Someone else shouldn't be forced to listen. Or put at risk to pay for someone else's evil.
This is the kind of crap ruling that ought to get a judge removed, but that presents a dilemma for CT Democrats in power -- see, Bellis was appointed by a Republican, albeit a twice-convicted felon/prohibited person Republican who betrayed his NRA endorsement (surprise!) to push for "ballistic fingerprinting" with Richard Blumenthal). So even though the Dems might prefer one of their own behind the bench, why change out a reliable player with insider access to the other camp?
Until such time as it is understood that "in common use at the time" refers to true military grade weaponry, and that any "official" deviation from that interpretation will not be tolerated, subversives like Bellis will continue to undermine liberty.
UPDATE: Standing Liberty advises "Bellis has been featured guest at Plaintiff's law firm."

NRA Annual Meeting Headlining Obama Supporter Toby Keith
Even more curiously, Keith has admitted voting for Bill Clinton twice, meaning he voted for him after the 1994 “assault weapon” ban. And while some may say his subsequent votes for George Bush indicated a change of heart, it hardly explains his political actions after that. Because five years after Keith wowed NRA members in Orlando, he declared himself a supporter of the man NRA’s Wayne LaPierre called “the most anti-gun president ever to occupy the Oval Office.” Keith praised Barack Obama, calling him “the best Democratic candidate we’ve had since Bill Clinton. And that’s coming from a Democrat.” And Keith went on to honor Obama by performing at his 2009 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo. [More]It’s not unreasonable to ask – with all the entertainers out there – why Toby Keith? That and can people carry at the concert? Yes or no?

But some pro-gun congressman are suffering from a type of “Stockholm syndrome,” where prisoners become so oppressed that they begin to think like their captors. There are some pro-gun members of Congress who have allowed anti-gun crazies like Chuck Schumer to convince them that the freedom citizens enjoy in Constitutional Carry states is just too much.OK, who are they?

I Spoke with Mike Vanderboegh Last Night
He called me from the hospital. He'll be coming home today.
We spoke for several minutes. He actually sounded good -- it was one of those periods when he could reach out and engage. That's why the choice to initiate contact should be his.
Our friend is a brave man. He knows that many are concerned and are asking about him. He knows a lot of us are grateful to benefit from his work and some of us are grateful to know him in person. He appreciates that and he appreciates knowing many of us give him special mention in our prayers.
As long as I had him on the phone, I brought up a couple points of "business":
Those of you who wish to make -- or continue making -- gratitude offerings, please do. I'd hesitated bringing it up the last few times because I wasn't sure if Rosey would be able to endorse a check made out to Mike or to access his Paypal account. She'll be able to.
I've received inquiries about "Absolved," particularly if there is a link resource for all the posted chapters. I could update that, but knowing Mike was doing rewrites and how the draft may have value for his family, I didn't want to without checking first. Turns out that was the correct call to make.
More information will be forthcoming.
UPDATE: I had sad information I could not share when making the above post. Mike just called again this morning and cleared me to release it.

‘Gunwalker’ Feint Shows Administration Still Stonewalling
Don’t expect the mainstream media, and even Republican politicians, to relentlessly investigate the truth of any of these claims. With a few notable exceptions, they didn’t do anything but ignore and obfuscate while the iron was hot, and there is no incentive to resurrect “yesterday’s news” now. [More]Meanwhile, most "Authorized Journalist" sources are telling you everything is hunky-dory...
About That 'Single Issue'...
The NRA helped write California’s 1967 ban on openly carrying loaded firearms ... Indeed, these past six years the NRA has been in Federal court arguing to uphold California’s Open Carry bans as well as arguing in support of California’s Gun-Free School Zone Act ... Five years ago, the NRA opposed attempts to overturn the Open Carry bans in Arkansas, Florida, Texas and Oklahoma and when a Federal appellate court in 2012 struck down an Illinois ban on carrying loaded and unloaded firearms, be they carried openly or concealed, the NRA lobbied the Illinois legislature to enact a new ban on openly carried firearms in 2013 and, ironically, lobbied the state to enact an onerous concealed carry permit requirement. [More]I know Charles has gotten a lot of people furious with him in the past, and that SAF and Gura opposed one of his lawsuits. At the time, I was doing that Scottsdale area radio show and tried to get him on the program, and maybe even host a debate with his detractors, but couldn't get it to happen.
For purposes of this post, I'm not all that interested in hearing how he's a gadfly, or any stirring apologia for compromises. What I'm primarily interested in from this is whether or not his statements can be proven.

McAuliffe (D) vetoed bills that would have given domestic-violence victims under protective orders the temporary right to carry concealed weapons without applying for permits or getting training.then:
“Governor McAuliffe applies one standard to bills like these,” Coy wrote in an email. “If they make Virginia safer, he signs them. If they do not, he vetoes them.”then:
McAuliffe signed identical House and Senate bills to allow the state’s judges and prosecutors to carry concealed weapons without having to undergo the normal permit-application and training process.Because judges and prosecutors have powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men?
The only way to explain the seemingly illogical paradox is that special people get special "Only Ones" privileges. That and McAwful and his pet regurgitating vomit-lapper are demonstrable liars.

Good thing "Republicans" are in the majority in congress and will not aggravate this ... for now. Bad enough without congress piling on. With the NRA having passive-aggressively collaborated for the confirmation of Sotomayor & Kagan, Scalia gone, and wussy RINOs already ovulating for Comrade Hussein's nominee, if the AGs get verdicts they may be upheld.
That's the current situation. Soon, within 20 years, thanks to the NRA's passive-aggressive collaboration with Norquist-Bloomberg crowd's takeover and cultural terraforming of the USA through overimmigration, invasion-occupation, and the related anchor-Democrat, anchor-Sharia breeding programs, the Ds will have permanent supermajority control of all branches of the federal government and of a supermajority of the states.
Given the unassimilable deluge, 3rd-world immigrants, invaders, and anchor babies will continue to lean overwhelmingly Democrat and anti-gun - as they have since Kennedy's 1965 Immigration Act Trojan Horse and Reagan's amnesty - despite any NRA reacharound, appeasement, and preemptive surrender efforts. All the NRA can do is try to mitigate and slow the destruction wrought by the subversion of its own Norquisling board and staff. The "good" news is that the coming Kabuki battles will enable the beltway vampires who control the NRA to con more members out of vast sums of money, adding to the nearly $400 million a year already squandered in outrageous salaries, sweetheart contracts, and donations to anti-gun, squish, and "cheap labor" RINO candidates.
The "single issue" cannot exist in a vacuum.

On the other hand, Team Trump acting all surprised makes me wonder if they were blindsided because they actually didn't understand how the varied state party delegate processes work, which calls the performance of his advisers into question. One thing that surprises me is seeing complaints from people who in other circumstances would be reminding us that we're not a democracy but a republic. Another thing is how few seem to know that.
I wish my crystal ball was working, but the damn thing is on the fritz again. Assuming Hillary doesn't get prosecuted, I saw a poll report the other day that makes me believe most of the electorate will deserve whatever fate befalls them, and then some. Unfortunately, guess who gets dragged down with them...

| Perception becomes reality: This is all disaffected Republicans see. |
The Colorado Republican Party's decision last summer to jettison a presidential poll at its caucus on Tuesday looks worse with every passing day. [More]It's not hard to imagine the Denver Post editorial staff high-fiving as the GOP "leadership" self-destructs.
It doesn't matter if there are esoteric inside baseball rationales or if varied arcane Democrat caucus rules do their share of deck-stacking the media is happy to overlook. All that matters is what the average, frustrated, Republican-leaning voter walks away thinking, that everything is being changed without his influence and against his will -- to the benefit of those who know how to pull the right strings and push the right buttons -- and that he has been rendered voiceless.
Donald Trump is wrong about riots from his supporters, at least in the "traditional" sense of opportunistic masses running wild in the streets with TVs and toilet paper. I don't see the type of people concerned with the issues he's taken the lead on being that type, certainly not to loot and burn, no matter how much they're conflated with violent "extremists" and painted as bigger domestic threats than Islamists bent on forcing submission.
That said, a quote from a Democrat icon comes to mind.
Congratulations, Dead Elephant Party. You are more to blame than overt domestic enemies, because you snookered the desperate into having a hope you never intended to fulfill.

Sure, Democrats Have Blacks and Hispanics, But We Have a Shot at Uber Drivers and Vapers!
Grover Norquist proves how delusional and deceptive his arguments are. [More]
Whether this imaginary "coalition" proves resentful enough to make a difference in November or not isn't even the point -- the "pathway to citizenship" he and Bloomberg and the cheap labor über alles Republicans are paving and adding speed lanes to will more than take care of elections after that.
WarOnGuns correspondent Carlos Perdue has posted two highly relevant comments so far -- and since I can't seem to make individual comment links work, I'm going to copy and paste them here:

Groveler al Nor'Qu'ist's Saudi pals are the ones directly responsible for the destruction of all those jobs in America's oil shale drilling patch.

OMG. More delusional, deceptive nonsense from Bloomberg collaborator and islamophile quisling, Grover al Nor'Qu'ist (proper Arabic spelling of Norquist; please be sensitive).
Bloomberg and his gun-grabbing billionaire pals don't spend hundreds of millions of dollars for amnesty and open immigration to ensure "cheap labor" for Bloomberg's news operation. He's doing it to lock down his long-term gun ban strategy: The permanent cultural and political terraforming of the USA.
Grover al Nor'Qu'ist openly collaborates with Bloomberg's strategy to overrun our country and overwhelm the relatively conservative native-born citizenry's voting control with fast-breeding legal and illegal immigrants and their offspring, who will continue to lean overwhelmingly Democrat and anti-gun as they have increasingly since "Republicans" went along with Kennedy's 1965 Trojan Horse Immigration Act, since Reagan's and subsequent de facto and de jure amnesties, and since the gross dereliction and subversion by every president after Eisenhower of our most critical national defenses -- our own borders and immigration controls.
Unless the invasion-occupation-takeover of the USA is halted and reversed, anchor baby citizenship for the children of non-citizens abolished, and legal immigration slashed back to the kind of pleasant, beneficial, non-suicidal trickle we enjoyed from the 1920s under Coolidge through the 1950s under Eisenhower, then within 20 years thanks to the immigration Nor'Qu'islings, the Democrats will have permanent supermajority control of all branches of both the federal government and a supermajority of the states.
The vast majority of U.S. population growth since 1965 is due to government-sponsored over-immigration and invasion-occupation. The interest groups al Nor'Qu'ist cites are not in the same order of magnitude and will not even vaguely make up for the damage done by al Nor'Qu'ist's subversive immigration policies.

City of Angels
A federal judge in California has ruled that including a small Christian cross on the official seal of Los Angeles County is unconstitutional, siding with civil liberties advocates. [More]My, how very Opposite Day "progressive" of the Bill Clinton appointee.
Me, I object to calling the place "The Angels." That discriminates against those of us who call them spirit guides or Valkyries or Houris, or even those who call them demons...
Matter of fact, the example of the Taliban/Buddhist statue "flap," as adopted by those intent on going after Confederate monuments, makes it clear the entire mission system is emblematic of white privilege, patriarchy, religious bigotry, oppression and genocide, and it offends the hell out of people who live to have the hell offended out of them. If they're not going to be destroyed outright, we at least need to convert some to give equal shrift to Baal and Cthulu, as well as apportion a few as "bathhouses"...
The Devil's Invention
Meaning, I guess this Brit want them reserved for the devil's minions, and I suspect he'll get his wish-- at least over there. [More]
Faux News Health
Because nothing says "gun safety" like a bunch of antis haranguing you to turn it into a club! [More]
"Lead author Dr. Katherine Freundlich," eh? I don't suppose she'd like to fill out a form explaining her qualifications and what she's prepared to do about it should her advice not work out...?

White House Still Claiming Second Amendment a ‘Given’ Right
This isn’t subject to interpretation and spin, which means the evil b******s are demonstrable liars, defrauding Americans out of their rights and usurping powers they have no claim to. Plainly, because there’s no other way to put this and remain faithful to the truth, that makes them tyrants and domestic enemies, and if you think about it, presumptuous blasphemers. [More]The One from whom all blessings flow…? The guy sure has a high opinion of himself.
Voyage to See What's on the Bottom

Feral sons Uday and Qusay think it's a hoot that we had shows like that taking place in the "future" years of 1970s and 80s. "Voyage" actually had some thoughtful episodes, especially in the black and white era before much of it devolved into cheesy special effects and hokey monsters, like much of the -- face it -- dreck Irwin Allen produced.
Long story short, I found a Richard Basehart commemorative site that has posted another fond memory, back from the days when I was a Mad Magazine regular, their "Voyage to See What's on the Bottom" parody. You'll probably either think it's childishly stupid or funny. If you're like me, you'll think it's both, and enjoy it all the more because of that.
I don't know what "netiquette" is for a link that appears to go to a directory instead of a content page, so I'm not going to make this link hot. If you want to see more, copy and paste it into your address bar.

"Storefront Stick-up"
A victim of opportunity, this store owner has his hands full when he is confronted by an armed robber as he is unlocking the door. The robber demands "Give me the bag!" What happens next is the subject of this weeks' episode. [More]Tonight on "Stop the Threat"...
Mass Hysteria
Newtown schools chief: Teachers will never carry guns in town schools [More]Or I should say, Conn. hysteria, which is pretty much the same thing.
I note teacher Jason Adams didn't actually do anything threatening, so this appears to be pure hoplophobia gone viral. I suspect he's probably been doing it for a while and got careless with concealment. Another teacher saw it and reported him. And an armed "Only One" reminded him of why they're called that.
The guy is screwed. Good luck with a 2A defense. That presupposes courts exist to secure the Blessings of Liberty. Just like the other branches of government, right?
I have some feelers out to learn more -- if you have something to add, feel free to comment.
Item last -- I've seen a "friendly fire" tendency to pile on the guy, and will only ask this -- has anyone ever felt compelled to carry when and where the "law" said you couldn't?

We're the Only Ones All TOR Up Enough
[W]hen Seattle police showed up at David Robinson's home shortly after 6 a.m. last Wednesday, he figured he had little choice but to let them in and hand over all his computer passwords. [More]There's always a choice. But some are more costly than others.
And there's always a weakest link.
Anybody think you're safe out there...?

It's Firearms Friday!
I'll be joining Michael Dukes again at 11:20 or so Eastern to talk gun sales, Hillary and Bernie, and whatever else we can get to. [Listen]
For the Children
If there's a bigger cliché than politicians kissing babies, I don't know what... Saw this one, sans the Fauxtoshop reboot, over at Hillary's FB page. It creeped me out about as much as when Saddam got all touchy with the child of British hostages, except in this case, a worshiper happily brought the offering.
