Me:
I've already posted the text of my speech to the Virginia Citizens Defense League. I'm getting ready to post a narrative of my experiences attending Lobby Day.
Notes from the Resistance...
"The firearms here are without question some of the most commonly used. One out of nine guns sold since the invention of AR-type rifles is an AR rifle." [More]Fine, but that's tangential to the core "common use" issue.
Madison's proposal was defeated because of "the inconveniency of advancing even a few hundred pounds at this crisis." [More]
As such, Silver has been a leading proponent of “gun control” throughout his terms of office, including being a driving force behind passing Governor Andrew Cuomo’s “SAFE” Act. In 2012, Silver pushed through a package of bills after the Sandy Hook killings, using that as the springboard to enact legislation that had failed to be enacted in prior years, including microstamping, gun locks and “closing loopholes.” He stated his post-Newtown goal flatly, to impose “a complete ban on assault weapons.” [More]Oh look. Another Bloomberg ally who wants to disarm Americans is charged with massive corruption. What purpose could organized criminals possibly have in wanting to disarm you and me? And what kind of idiot willingly gives such creatures power?
Neighbors had been pleading with town officials to tear down the house of the mass murderer, with one resident saying it's "a constant reminder of the evil that resided there." [More]Blaming an inanimate object ... why that's certainly never been done before.
House Bill 1127, introduced by state Representative Gordon Klingenshmitt (R-15), would grant immunity from civil liability to places of business which recognize your right to protection and self-defense by respecting your right to carry concealed on the property... In addition, three bills which are vital to protecting your Second Amendment rights have been scheduled for their respective committee hearings in early February. [More]If you're from Colorado, don't you think you ought to be fully versed and activated on these?
The Action of 22 January 1783 was a single ship action fought off the Chesapeake Bay during the American War of Independence. The British frigate HMS Hussar under the command of Thomas McNamara Russell captured the French frigate Sybille under the command of Kergariou-Locmaria. The circumstances of the battle included controversial violations of accepted rules of war regarding the flying of false flags and distress signals. [More]

Gun rights activist David Codrea was there to challenge legislation that he fears could result in the disarmament of citizens. [More]Kelsey and Lyndsey, it's not like I'm unapproachable or unreachable. Instead of leaping to illusions, you could have talked with me. I don't fear legislation will disarm all gun owners, just the ones who won't matter in what comes next.
“I once had a boss who taught me the correct way to pronounce that is McAwful. Who said, in his state of the Commonwealth address – this is what the guy says: ‘As a gun owner myself, I fully believe that law abiding citizens have a right and responsible to carry fire arms, but …’ Stop right there. There are sure are a lot of politicians with big butts waddling around, aren’t there?” [More]Sandy, how come everyone there but you got that "big but" is spelled with one "t"?
“It’s really not about guns, it’s about freedom,” gun-rights advocate and author David Codrea told the crowd. “Work with us or we will work to retire you,” he said, addressing lawmakers.
He finished his remarks with a bang, shouting “I will not disarm!” and garnering cheers from the crowd. [More]Kathy, when we spoke, I shared with you that Virginians for Responsible Gun Laws does not appear on Guidestar, is not registered as a nonprofit with the Secretary of State, and has it's website registered through a proxy. I thought we were in agreement that the money behind a group attempting to change laws is important information the public has a right to know, and that you were going to follow up on that. Here's hoping you still intend to, and here's stating my intent to not drop this.
